Hello again from Gizmo....

Frank asked me to post pics of my first smoker so I went dumpster diving from 2010 and here's some pics of Edna - she was my first love :x I've completely forgotten how to do a photo attachment using photo snatch or whatever that other site was. Boy a lot has changed over the past 400 years since I ...

Re: Internal fb

I think you've just described an Ugly drum Smoker. I think one of the reasons why a UDS works so well is because all the the 'lost' heat is lost into the meat - an a little through the skin of the drum. You can certainly do what you are describing but I'm afraid the pit will give you the feeling tha...

Re: My first build. 80 gallon with propane

I've only built the one char-griller conversion to propane and it made me nervous after it went out a couple times - I just know Frank has the info/parts available somewheres around here that will kill the propane feed if the pilot goes out.... I'm betting RC knows where it is.... it might be a stic...

Re: Ole Red - 60Gal Air Compressor RF Build

Very good looking work on all those rigs! :kewl: The problem I ran into with Gurus on an RF rig was that the Guru's algorithm that runs the feed back loop between the temp sensors and the activation of the fan seems to 'get lost' on an RF because the delay time was too long. In rigs such as the "Big...

Re: My first build. 80 gallon with propane

You are going to have to watch this design like a hawk. I would recommend an automatic safety shut-off for the propane as a back up - or it might 'splode' if you don't notice a flameout. :exp:

Re: She's really a grill - with a couple mods

With the cost of ball valves being what it is - I think they would go back in the drawer for a GF mod or something and buy a couple of the sliding intake dampers from Frank - or similar. I'm thinking maybe a pair of 2" openings should do it purty close. Keep in mind that once you find the draft you ...

Re: smoking meat to be used for seasoning

I re-read your original post and I think I approach this a little differently because you're absolutely correct. I only cook enough veggies for a single meal to be really fresh - then I put meat prepared this way in LAST - just in long enough to heat it up then serve it. I like throwing this meat in...
