Re: Updates on my 24x50 cabinet smoker.

What are the deminsions of the fire box? Also what is the height of the main cooking chamber? Is the round pipe on the bottom necessary or could you leave it square with success? I’m gonna do a very similar build but that 24 in pipe is huge and I don’t have the equipment to move a big piece of it. ...

Too funny....didn’t even know you could buy an 8 pound brisket....imagine they cook a lot faster than the big ones.
Its like buying a roast. Lol yes this one cooked in about 4 hours.

Re: Updates on my 24x50 cabinet smoker.

Did my first cook yesterday. Small 8 pound brisket. No my type, I like 12 -14 pounders. But I didn't buy it. Cooker did awesome. Real easy on fuel.

Re: Updates on my 24x50 cabinet smoker.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I put a lot of heart into this build because I want it to be a family heirloom. Not bad for a four month build only working on it a few hour in the evenings and on weekends. I'm fixing to start on a build for my stepdad. My mom passed 3 weeks ago and he's having ...

Re: Updates on my 24x50 cabinet smoker.

What did you paint with? Prep? I tried to sandblast it but my compressor wasn't big enough to keep up. So I used my grinder and wire wheel. Blew it off with air and wiped it down. I used Rustoleum high heat BBQ paint. Just plain BBQ Black. I painted most of it with my paint gun till the compressor ...

Welcome! Thats a heck if a good start to build off of. I would cut the bell off too. Make a fire pit out if it or something.

Re: Updates on my 24x50 cabinet smoker.

Heres another update on the cooker. Sayurday I worked on it all day. Got both hip roofs done, the door frame on the main chamber, and all joints are welded and started smoothing the welds. Ready to hang doors, install the exhaust stacks, and start building the meat racks. 20191017_190211.jpg 2019101...

Re: Matt's Big Mack

Nice build. A little trick I use to weld expanded metal is I start my tack on the frame and kind of sweep over to the expanded. Turn your heat down as stated above. Once you get the hang its no biggie.

Newbie here from cetral Tx

Been lurking here a few weeks. Thought I would go ahead and introduce myself. I'm a heavy truck/heavy equipement mechanic by profession. I've been building smokers on the side for about 4 hears now. I tried to load a few pics of some of my cookers but the files are too large. I'll edit them amd try ...
