What are the advantages/disadvantages of a tall chimney? I see them on Jambos and some custom built smokers and I'm curious do they get smoke out better?

Does anyone have any pictures of the damper inside the chimney on a Jambo or know how it's are assembled? Thanks!

Smoked 2 Boston butts over the weekend. I used oak this time and it turned out great.

My thinking is if you keep the throat below the grate it's not as bad to have flames getting close to the meat.

I don't think location makes any difference, just the design. Here's what I use.

I have a Chargriller that I modified the throat.(See my thread if you get a chance). I've only cooked once but I could tell a difference for the better

Let me correct my earlier post. After "trying" a portractor along a deer feeder if you don't want to worry about long pipe legs and risk tripping over them try around 130 degrees. Like I mentioned before I'm not the best at angles
