Chimney size

Building a cinderbrick smoker. Smoker calculator says if I go with 8 inch chimney height needs to be 33 inches. If I go with 6 inch chimney height should be 54 inches. Is there an advantage or disadvantage with going with the 8 inch over 6 inch?

Cinderbrick build

I am almost finished with my offset cinderbrick smoker build. The cook chamber is 33x44x64. I had originally planned to use a piece of 3/8 plate steel for the top of the cook chamber. Dargo. How thick is the roxul? I have allowed for one inch between cinderbrick and firebox on all sides of metal firebox .

Thanks for the reply. I am building an offset with 8" round stack. Calculator calls for a 33.3" height on stavk.
