I like big butts!!!!

So I've heard stories about the long cook times for butts. :BDHorse: Boy you ain't kiddin'. This cook has been like a great night of drinkin' gone bad. =)) Tried to do the minion method rounding the kettle (Weber 22 1-2" kettle grill). Started out great, then couldn't get it to trail well at all. :h...

Re: June Grill/ Smoker Pizza Throwdown!

I tell you what guys, I'm going to be some bummed if I can't swing coming over in the fall to meet you all. I'll do what I can. Maybe if you do it again, I'll set money aside from tax season. Maybe you guys can get some pics and maybe even a video for us who might not be able to make it.

More rub please.

I'm just (yes, just) discovering that a good rub can go on almost anything. Eggs, yes. Cottage cheese, yes. Pizza, yes. Veggies, uh, yes. One of the best things to come down the pike since bacon. Just sayin' guys. :BDHorse:

Tips and stuff...

Who says steak tips are boring? This thing is so easy to learn. Finally waited for the coals to be 'ready', and guess what? No smokey taste. Who knew? Put the broccoli in a pot and the tips around the out side. Put them on the outside while I mowed to not burn them. Came out great!!!! Thanks to you ...

Re: Cast iron help.

Think I've found the culprit. Olive oil. I forgot about my dad using lard or bacon grease and wiping it down after every cook while still hot. I'll clean it real good and do that. :headwall:

Cast iron help.

I was given an old/cheap cast iron fry pan. It was pretty nasty. I had it sand blasted at work and coated it with oil. It is still coated with a nasty black film no matter how often I coat it. Is that harmful? Do I just have to keep cooking/coating until it goes away? Would like to use this thing bu...

Soup's on!!!!

I call this everything but the... (sorry Ben and Jerry's).

Rice, chicken stock, homemade sausage, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, BBQ beans, and of course some rub (Big Ron's and Denny Mike's mix). I'm sure there's more but I forgot what else.

Not all is lost

Stepped away for a bit to 'read this forum' and see what the rest of you are doing and my dinner burned. It was going to be a egg scramble and turned out to be more like a fritatta. Good thing I had it on low heat. Kind of funny.
