It will hold heat a LOT longer, and will also take longer to get them to the point were they will hold the temp. Your fire box will be up to temp way before your fire brick. Replace the nipple. Why take a chance? They're super cheap. Any drum with a liner MUST be removed. If it's un lined, it's recommended to still burn it out. Kind of like it's recommended to pull the shoot when jumping from a plane. A good rule of thumb, when in doubt. Oh, and welcome!!!!
