I used 1/2 inch in mine, but it was free so that worked very well for me :-) it takes 30 minutes to heat up to 250 and it stays there with two 1/4 splits of apple wood every 20 minutes. My pit is heavy but trailers very well its right at 1600 pounds.

You will be fine with that tank, thats what mine was it works great. Franks plans were great. you can do a search on here for my build, I havent had any luck finding tanks here in washington the scrappers seem to have that market. Im not far from you I live in Royal City

The main reason for the pans for me is it saves on cleanup even though my reverse flow plate is lined with foil, I also use some of the drippings back in the meat for moisture, I must own stock in the aluminum company cause I use lots of it. :rulz:

Paint is done will finish fenders later this summer, this trailer was a welding trailer so they used the fenders as there bench wow are they beat up. unfortunately Im too busy for a couple weeks to get some meat on it. Image

No sorry dc i wish i could still free hand cut like that but i shake to much now just traced around it 1/4 inch bigger then ground it smooth, gettin close to paint this weekend then burn some pig flesh and drink a brew to break it in. :biggrillin:

Thanks guys I use Grill Mates pork rub but I spice it up a bit with dried and ground jalapenos and red peppers along with the sweet baby rays its got a little bite, but with the bbq sauce it balances out.
