Re: 250 build

An inch above so the rain doesn't run into the smoker That part makes sense, and is what finally made me realize that wasn’t a typo. I can’t remember seeing one with the doors cut above tdc though. Especially on the larger diameter pits. I cut mine at like 2” below on a 120g and I def get rain insi...

Idk how I’m just now catching this, but you guys are running the top of your doors beyond tdc of tank? Or are you saying 1” below tdc?

Try a search on "end brush wheel" at some of your HW stores like ACE or Harbor Freight. I even took the time to spell "Harbour" incorrectly too. ;)

Re: 120 gallon first build

Thanks! I’ll have to snag some of those brushes. Do you happen to have a link?

And I have the basic easy weld 140. The 140”mp” is the one with the brass gas hookup. Mine was about half the price of that one

Re: 120 gallon first build

Flux wire is horrible! They make tiny "toothbrush" sized wire brushes that might work for you. I have a small air grinder with a 1.5 inch flap wheel that works really good for tight places that my big grinder won't get to. The minimal cost to convert to shielding gas is worth it just for the aggrav...

Re: 120 gallon first build

Side note. Any of you other flux core welders out there, what’s the best way to get that flux off after you tack something together in a bunch of inside corners? I’ve had no issue on exterior surfaces as I can just wire brush them off and start laying full beads. But I’m stuff like those interior fb...

Re: 120 gallon first build

Thanks for all the kind words. Plugging along today. Got my “frank style” baffle tacked in. Grates framed out and installed. And braced the fb door. Also picked up 1” ball valve for drain today, and my paint came in as well! We’re almost there. Gotta get the expanded on the grates. Move pull handle ...

Santa Maria In The Works

Love this! I have 2 24” bell ends lying around. May have to try this. Is that the inner ring of the bell end that you used for the grate ring?

Nice! Interested to see how this turns out. I’ve had wild hog once, and it wasn’t bad. They’re abundant on my hunt club, so I may have to copy you.

Re: 120 gallon first build

When I sent parts to cnc guy, I had it designed to have a lip at the bottom. But after more thinking, I decided I wanted smooth bottom for easy ash removal. So I welded that section to the door.
