Re: 24x48 Smoker Design and Build

Been making progress on the build so far. Got the tank cut down to 48", cut out most of the bungs and replaced with donor pieces from the unused part of the tank. Processed down my plates for the FB and the tank ends. Made a circle cutter from a block of brass and some rod and worked great. Got the ...

Re: 24x48 Smoker Design and Build

Every design is a bit different and is filled with compromises. Three inches is a lot of vertical space to take up for a grease dam and really only needs to be a out an inch or so. I'm not sure anybody actually puts water in the bottom of their pit so the only purpose is to keep grease drippings ou...

24x48 Smoker Design and Build

Been lurking for a while and now that I have the majority of my materials, I'm getting ready to start. Starting materials are 120 gallon vertical air receiver. 86.5" x 25.75" sheet of 7/32 plate 96" x 25.75 sheet of 7/32 plate 120 gallon is a bit bigger than I need, so I'm planning on cutting the be...

Re: 120 gallon first build

Damn, love the base you setup for moving the smoker around. I've got a 120 gallon air tank outside my garage right now I'm figuring of making into a 24" x 48" offset and cutting off the bells. Still working out the rough design before I start my first cut though. What sorta figures did you settle on...

Re: Welcome from Ontario

Looks like I've finally got a cook chamber for my build now. Realized I didn't have enough steel for the smoker I wanted to make from the 5/32 plate I had, so I kept searching for some cheap plate, or a tank to suit. Put out feelers out there for a 100 gallon propane tank or 80+ gallon air tank whic...

Re: Welcome from Ontario

Thanks for the welcome all,

Once I get a direction, and can put a rough plan to CAD with the important dimmensions, I'll definitely be looking for feedback before jumping right in.

Welcome from Ontario

Hey All, Built my first offset using a couple 100lb propane tanks. Tried to follow general principles with FB being 1/3 CC, but it's a bit temperamental. Had to build baffles, built very small fires, tuning plates etc. It's also really long and thin, which isn't ideal. Been wanting to upgrade and ha...
