Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

Well the oven / vertical smoker is welded on and she has chimneys that can be taken apart with one nut each.

Kind of crappy cell phone pic.....

Few small items to finish on the welding and fab work, sandblast her this weekend and paint it Monday.

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

"Did I mention cutting a short (2") piece of pipe then slice out about a half inch of it's circumference? Use a large radiator clamp to compress it and slide back into your 5 inch pipe and you have a sleeve. Tack weld it in place - maybe evena touch of silicone. Compare that time and effort to those...

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

I am thinking of using flanged exhaust pipe adapters on each side of the pipe.

Like this one

With this style clamp.

Then it is just one bolt and the stack can be taken off or re installed.

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

"you can go up to 6" and decrease the height also"

That was the original plan. But the 5" was readily available with out ordering it (friends truck shop does not stock 6" exhaust pipe) and even if I have to make it 2 piece it will save me some money.

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

Thanks guys I was worried about that.....I can make it two piece so it can be put through a 8 foot high door with out hitting. I have friends that run a truck repair shop they have all kinds of slip on pipes and collars that will make it work.

Once again I am glad I asked.

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

Sorry I have been lax on adding more updates. I have been very busy trying to finish this rig and keep my day job happy as things have been busy there too. I have one pic from this weekend from my phone. It has racks and reverse flow plates are finished. IMG-20130528-00056.jpg I have a question in c...

Did a long day on Saturday and got the fire box and fire box door all done and welded to the main tank. Then installed the legs so she could see the light of day. Next will be the attack on the inside of the main chamber..

Re: Starting a new build 250 gal Reverse Flow

It is looking good and if you stay away from the cars you will get it done faster. Just sayin. Thanks! And that is exactly why it has been getting worked on, I am more than likely not racing this year. The only track left that runs the class of cars we have is one I will not step foot in. So the Dr...

Re: Angle Grinder - Is there a preferred inexpensive model?

I have a few Milwalkee tools and only killed on angle grinder after 10 years of use in the race shop. It was the 12 amp 4 1/2 inch angle grinder, 10 bucks a year was worth it by far.

The SuperSaw I bought at the same time still runs like a champ.

Couple more weeks like this last one and it will be time for a fire in this rig.

Yes sir that's the plan. Gumbo. BBQ fried rice. Various stir fried dishes and as a frier when needed.
