The guy I did it for is a comp cook and very successful at it. He loves it saves on fuel and he runs a stoker on it. His orginal firebox was very much undersized.

Inner panel 1/4" outer 10 gauge ........ I did one recently the pegs you see are 3/4" standoffs I cut holes in the 11 gauge and plugged welded in some areas. The outer skin I had broke as much as I could. I also welded concrete nails in random places to hold the insulation in place http://i1053.phot...

Re: need advice on a new tig helmet

Never heard of a welding hood working with one process and not the other and been welding over 30 years...... AMAZING

Do not get hooked on those auto darkening helmets they r good in places but in others like in a pipe rack welding pipe and in tight places they aint worth a shat!!!!

Re: Is my set up hurting me?

If you went with a firebox that was 102% you would need a throat of (209.66) if I were going with a warmer I make my firebox and warmer as one unit so my width would be 36" if you are going with a just a fire box then if you are going with a half moon opening to cook chamber then it would be 9.5" hi...

Re: Trailer?

less than 600$ depending where you get your parts. I would go with a 4x8 trailer 1 3500# axel 14 or 15" wheels and tires and 2x3x11 gauge tubing if I were building it. you can even you a straight coupler to get it rated at 5000#. Where r u located at??

Re: Is my set up hurting me?

Just a very bad design. I would start over get that pipe out you r getting no radiant heat or very little Firebox height does not matter so much let the top of your firebox and baffle plate be on the same elevation or very close I would want my firebox a little over 100% of what the pit. Calculator ...

Re: Trailer?

Consider this you may be paying 175$ for an axel the wheels and tires may be no good and the frame of the trailer is potentially light for a 250 build especially if you are adding a warmer to it. I am a big proponent of building your own trailer truthfully the cost is really miniscule when you weigh...

Re: I need help choosing my first welder.

welding 1/4" with a small welder is going to be very slow. You must realize if you have a 20% duty cycle you can only weld continuously 2 minutes out of 10. Also if you do not grind all the mill scale off it is going to be a big challenge. I have several welders and I do have a Lincoln 140 mig that ...
