Re: Building My First Smoker

This will be a good build to watch. I used a old piece of pipe for the inside of my build that was 1/4, and have no prob with mine. I think bigger or thicker is better then you don't have to worry about it. Spend the money up front, not do it again later.
Good luck with the build.

It is pretty warm but not scorching hot. I did answer Frank on the ir just had to answer him in PM. Sorry gu...

Re: 500 gal Rf first build What do think

Thats about what everybody thought i would use. I'm sure happy that i don't use that amount, i don't have the room for that much wood. We still need to build the wood box.
So you have a insulated firebox now? I used the Kaowool on mine its 1" thick got 50 sq feet for $65

Re: 500 gal Rf first build What do think

What i can tell you is for a 10 hour cook at 225 to 250 we burnt 10 logs about 21" long by 4"or5" round, i start my coals with one charcoal chimeny and then no more charcoal i thought that it was pretty good on its fuel usage. Maybe others c...

Re: 500 gal Rf first build What do think

Thank all of you for the comments. This rig so far has been a really fun project. It did get a bit more expensive as you can see in the photo of the arm in the cast, that happened on the trailer. All in all awesome fun. Still got some stuff to do but we are getting there.
