Re: A few quirks with my reverse flow i need help with

I agree, air flow is the problem. I didn't do the math on the calculator, but the throat and the baffle plate gap are just as important as the FB to CC ratio, and the intake size compared to the exhaust. Never smoke something when white smoke is present, thin blue is the answer. JM2CW

Re: Brick grill and smoker build!

Cole, I would put an baffle plate between the FB and CC leaving the gap on the sides say 1-1/2 inches. Then as much as 4" above that, do it again with the opening in the center with you adjustable plate there. I'm not sure I understand how that will help (not saying it won't... I just dont understa...

Re: solid baffle plate or tuning plates

I have used multiple plates wit a piece of flat bar overlapping the one next to it so I could adjust the BP gap to get the best size of opening for the pit to operate the best. The trade off is you will collect drippings under it so you need a dam at the FB throat to keep that stuff out of the fire....

Re: Newb working in my first build.

Welcome to the crew.

I’m not sure what the dimensions are of the tank, but I believe it’s a small diameter. Me first thoughts are, if this was laying down I could put an 1/2 pan in it. Standing it isn’t going to hold much. It will work, so don’t let me change your mind. Do you have a question?

Re: Build question

I agree, I normally don’t put the flanges or hinges in place until the doors fit correctly. I just consider it the process. But hey you might be the lucky one, but if not don’t feel bad. If you put all the flanges on too they will get bent as you realign it if they bend. Sent from my iPhone using Ta...

Re: first time builder questions

It was an adventure, my wife calls this one the other woman. I stopped counting hours at 400. You can’t see half the features of this rig in the picture. The WB for example is a double pan GF. Burner and chute on the other side. I can run 100* differential in all the CC. I added the hydraulic system...

Re: UDS build from a pressure tank

Nice job!

A buddy of mine made one out of the same size tank. Good thing you put a hinge on it, trying to lift the whole lid off was not for children.

Re: first time builder questions

I agree with DT, I wouldn't put that much heavier of an axle unless I got it for free with the first set of tires and wheels.

I have made several trailers, my smoker trailer was 3,500# on a 3,500# axle until I upgraded it, now it's on 2- 3,500# axles.

Re: Standard Offset Trailer Build

Dave, I was just thinking, I know that can be a problem sometimes. Have you considered moving the cooker over to the left side some so that the shelf you put on the door side will actually go over the tire on that side? As low as the center of gravity is on that cooker it wouldn't present a problem....

I understand liking the cooking options statement. We have called it the "bug" around here, once people catch the bug they build all sorts of cooking stuff. Yes, I'm speaking from experience.
