Re: Insulated cabinet build

5 years in a commercial setting has been pretty hard on this ol build. A recent grease fire caused quite a bit of warping and caused the hinges to fail. Good news is that with the new hinges she will be back in action.

Re: 60x24 RF Build

It’s a 4ft trailer, 46” spring centers 61” hub face, 3500lb axle so 1750s I would assume. I’m thinking now if I was to do it again I would still do a 60” CC but only a 48” WC/FB.

Re: 60x24 RF Build

Got her welded out and lifted up finally, but I’m thinking I might be too tall? I like the working height but I’m worried about being top heavy.

Re: 60x24 RF Build

What does everyone suggest on the exhaust? Rain cap or a damper? I almost always run the exhaust wide open and control my temp with the intake anyway but the option IS there to choke it down if I need to. I COULD do both but is the damper really necessary?

Re: 60x24 RF Build

Was able to work on the build for a few hours today. I was able to get the trailer up enough to be able to move this little guy around...not leaving at that height I just ran out of time again! Also got all of the racks cut so I can throw them together after work one day. I can’t add the last pic fo...

Re: 60x24 RF Build

Mine is a little bigger than Mack but mainly just increases the length a little. Ive used up almost every bit of 2 5x10s and part of a 4x8, I should be able to get the doors from the rest of the 4x8, I hope. The 4x8 I already had on hand but the 2 5x10s were $764 total. Thanks guys, haven’t had much...

Re: 60x24 RF Build

Got to spend a couple more hours on the build this evening. Insulation and inner walls of the firebox are in as well as all of the angle for the doors. Overall I think it’s comong along pretty well, one of the easiest cookers I have built.

60x24 RF Build

Hey guys, long time no post for me but starting a new build, I figured I better share some pics! Since “Mack” is such a big hit I figured I better go for the same design, just a little bigger. 60x24x24 cook chamber with a 36x24x24 WC. I cut everything I could last night on the plasma table and threw...

7-8 racks of spares? Laying flat? Mine are 24x32 and I can only fit 6 racks of baby backs per rack.

Re: Insulated cabinet build

I didn't use any plans on it just kinda figured up what I wanted and went from there. If I was to do it over again I would definitely go with a square tubing (1.5-2") over the rectangle just to make things a bit easier. I'll try to give ya what pics I've got. I think the angle of the drip pan has ch...

Re: Gotta question

Gizmo used to have all the measurements maybe he will chime in, I do know that my racks are 24x32 and each fit 6 racks of baby backs just right, pretty sure 6 butts will fit also, I think an average size is about 10x10.

That's right Rod...both offer 36,000 BTUs....I'm not sure how much space that can handle but I know it works really well for mine.

Re: Insulated cabinet build

Sorry I missed all the comments guys...mine is welded out completely inside and out...anywhere I passed through the wall is also boxed in so nothing can get to the insulation...if you need any dimensions still just let me know! I had intentions of putting the 18" in this one but Frank was out of sto...

As long as the stars and moon align at the right time I plan on making it. I'll be in VanBuren the following week so I can make this an "on the way" stop. The wife will be with me though...hope that's ok!

Re: 6011 alternatives for firebox root pass?

How bad are your gaps? On my fire boxes I always run the whole thing out with 6011 (6013 in your case) use a wire wheel to clean all he welds and then I'm going back over with 7018 for a good finish that I can use a flap disk to round off the edges.
