Re: New reverse Flow build

Yup I may if I dont take it to work. Yes my neighbors would have a fit. If I take it to work ill be better off. I can use the bobcat to move it & after I get it cut I can do a burn there & hopefully it wont smell so bad after a good burn so my neighbors wont freak out

Re: New reverse Flow build

St.Louis. I tried to post a pic but somethings wrong. This tank had the valve on the end so I'd have to stand it on the end & make sure its level to fill it completely. There's no hole in the top. Its hard to do in a garage. I may take it to work so I can use the bobcat to help me make sure its leve...

Re: New reverse Flow build

I followed all the directions in Franks video & did a lot of researching the web. I'd probably be the 1st in the forum to say it but I have my tank filled & I cant muster up the nerves to cut it lol. Im not ashamed to admit it & I paid close attention to the part of the video where Frank said " if y...

Re: New reverse Flow build

We have some left over 1/8' plate @ work my boss said I can have for free. Im using 1/4" for my firebox & reverse flow plate but Will 1/8" work for a warmer? Will the heat from the fb warp it? I was gonna add a warmer anyway but if this will work I'll use it.

Re: New reverse Flow build

Lol. Yup. I got it. I figured it would build my smoker & be a good 230v machine that wont take up a lot of space. Its hard squeezing tools in a 2 car garage.

Re: New reverse Flow build

I found this on craigslist today & I've heard good things about them plus I think the price was right. Hobart 187 with a cart & 40' extension cord. $300.00. Not quite the duty cycle I was hoping to get but it should be able to build my smoker. :welder:

Re: New reverse Flow build

Ok. I gotcha. I also made a mistake on my firebox to cook chamber opening. It'll be 22"×10 1/2". I was @ work when I typed my 1stpost earlier & for some reason those measurements were in my head.lol.hopefully I'll drain the tank tomorrow & make the 1st cut.

concession trailer

Hey folks. I've been reading around the forum & doing my home work. I've been communicating with frank on the smoker aspect. This rig will be going on a concession trailer. I've contacted the HD & gotten a list of requirements. I've saw this question asked a few times so thats where I started. Based...

Re: mig Welder

Yeah Tom your 100% right about not being able to get close enough. I dont have a shop either. Only a 2 car garage. I just cant see myself about $300 closer to a plasma cutter just for the size of a smaller machine for now im gonna have to deal with the size so I can equip myself with other tools. I ...

Re: mig Welder

I'd love to get a Miller but since my background of tools where mainly for auto , im trying to consider getting as many needed tools as possible for the $$$ i'll be forking out. I've read a lot on the 187 & 210 rigs & both fit my budget & application. The Esab is a great rig Smoker Tom because of it...

So Im building my tool inventory & im aware that my little Lincoln weld pak 3200 will be maxed out for my smoker project. I decided to sale it & purchase a 220v rig. I want something that will build my smoker & have a little something left. I've narrowed it down to a Lincoln 180 or a Hobart 187. I'v...

Re: Hello

My fabrication skills & equipment aren't the best & alleyrat. I've done sheet metal repairs on my car project & taught my self to get pretty darn good @ spot welds & stitch welding lol. Your smoker looks great. I gave Frank a call & he's only about a 90 minute ride away from me & he invited me out t...

Re: Hello

I just got it Frank & I may be making a road trip if this tank doesn't work out. Can anyone give some input on advantage or disadvantages of using a oil tank vs propane tank for a reverse flow? Can anyone tell me if they make a efficient cooker? Thanks

Hello

Hello everybody. My name is Joe and I'm from Saint Louis Missouri. I've been in love with barbeque since I was a kid. After trying just about every store bought smoker I've decided to build my own. I'm new to welding and have some fabrication experience. I was interested in a propane tank build but ...
