Re: Build update!

More progress! I flipped the slant of the charcoal chute by accident. No biggie! Just a dumb mistake!! I’m learning a lot along the way!! I need to cut about an inch off my baffle plate to be able to slide the charcoal chute all the way in. Then I can weld it up!!

Re: Build update!

Got the frame welded up today!! Man it was a lot of fun!! Had to go out of town, but maybe Sunday evening I might get a little work in? It’s supposed to be super cold, so we will see how dedicated I am!

Re: A few build questions???

I’m never good explaining what I’m thinking! Might be because I don’t know what I’m doing! LOL! I should have used google image search to begin with! This is what I was thinking kinda? Probably overthinking it and need to just stick to the plans! Thanks for the reply!!

A few build questions???

First of all thanks to everyone who replies! The experience and help in this group is awesome! I’m about to start building my frame out the next few evenings. The questions I have are: Does anyone wish they built the stance of the wheels wider. Does the smoker feel like it could tip over easy rollin...

Build update!

I’ve made a list and checked it more than twice!! Time to start!! I’m super new to fabricating and welding! I almost started with building the mini, but decided to bite off more than I can chew and start with the double pan!! This project will probably take way longer than most people because I will...

Stack location on a double pan

I did a search and couldn’t find any threads on this topic. I’m new so I might have missed something. Has anybody moved there stack to a side mount like this Stumps? I know people who have other styles of vertical smokers and and have complained of nasty condensation dripping on their food with a ce...

Re: Double Pan Gravity Feed vs Double Pan Reverse Flow Cabinet

Thanks for the replies! So far the fact that I can find lots of gravity feed information and hardly no info on reverse flow cabinet builds seems like gravity feed is the way to go. I’m really new to welding just started this year, but with the plans and this forum I’m ready to bite off more than I c...

Re: Howdy from Texas

Once I discovered Tri Tip that’s the only kind of steak my teenage boys want to eat!! I have done one like a brisket yet? I’m afraid the teenagers would steal it off the grill before it would get done!

Re: Double Pan Gravity Feed vs Double Pan Reverse Flow Cabinet

Wow thanks for the reply! I have a kamado joe and use a controller on it. That’s what I’m hoping for is a huge increase in capacity with a controller so I can do long cooks through the night. I have a big offset with a vertical chamber that I love and has lots of capacity, but I want to do big cooks...

Double Pan Gravity Feed vs Double Pan Reverse Flow Cabinet

So I was almost sold on buying the plans for the double pan gravity feed, and then I saw the double pan reverse flow cabinet plans! I can’t find any builds on the the reverse flow double pan cabinet. Does anyone have experience with that style? The reason I’m building this size is to do big cooks fo...

Portable Parrilla Asado Grill build questions

Hello all! I’m new to the group, and new to building pits and grills. Searched the topics and couldn’t find much on these type of builds. The main question I have is a design question on how to make one of these grills portable. I was looking for examples or how to design folding legs, or if it woul...

Santa Maria

Nice to meet everybody. I thought the grill picture was attached to the first post but it didn’t. I’ll try again! My dads been a racer of some sort for 60 of his 75 years! I used one of his old oil pans for a ash pan, and I used a old fly wheel and timing gear for the for the hand wheel [/img][/img]...

Howdy from Texas

I’ve watched most all the Smoke builder videos and too many others to list. Very new to welding. Just started this year since traveling and other activities couldn’t happen! My two first big project was building a vertical chamber on top of my firebox, and I just finished a Santa Maria grill for my ...
