Great work all round. This has been a fun build to watch. I'd love to try to mimic it if I had any use for a pit anywhere near that size.

i know my opinion is about as useful as an a$$hole on an elbow... i actually considered cutting a few bigger holes in the bottom of my FB basket for more of the ash to drop through. i don't mind too much if a handful of coals drop through too, but i like the ash to drop out for sure so the coals are...

I am looking at building one too. How much did that bottle weigh? When I do mine I will have to figure out how to lift it. i have no idea what the tank weighed with no motor on it, but i'd guess around 200+ Lbs. the firebox is a bit over 160 Lbs.the RF BP is about 50 Lbs...so that is already 400 Lb...

i know i'm chiming in late here, but i too did my entire build* with a 15amp milwaukee 4.5" grinder and a pack of harbor freight cutting discs - which is how i also cut the end of the tank to mount the FB. i know, they are cheap discs, but i get a TON of life out of them, if you don't just bury the ...

well, i finally started working on the smoker a little bit the last couple weekends (after kids go down, then in a garage still unorganized from move so it is usually around 10pm to 1am)...i came on to post pics and find my thread on the 3rd page...that is an eye-opener to tell me i've been slacking...
