Re: large reverse flow

That's my idea that one that long would not heat properly. I am just wondering if anybody has tried it. I don't want to be first.

Re: large reverse flow

I had considered the middle mount firebox but mounting it on a trailer would also be problematic.

Re: Insulation in Gravity fed charcoal pit

After a couple of years of using it I have had no problems with the fiberglass insulation. Cheapest think I have found.

large reverse flow

Has anybody ever tried to build a 20 plus foot long pit. I am wondering if it would even be able to get enough heat in the thing to cook. Considering welding two 500 gallon tanks together and making a monster pit.

Re: Bottle jack method

Only problem is sometimes I struggle getting the seal as tight as I would like. I cold cut for the most part so not a huge problem but a little tweak once in a while would be nice. I think a bottle jack cold be the answer.

Re: Bottle jack method

I like the looks of this idea but I usually weld my hinges on after the top cut. Putting the door back on later seems to be quite a big task.

Bottle jack method

I have read about the bottle jack method for straightening doors. Does anybody have a video link or a description of this method.

Insulation in Gravity fed charcoal pit

I did some research and fiberglass is rated to 1000 degrees. Has anybody tried that instead of mineral wool?

Re: Gravity Feed ...Starts July 7 2014

I just ordered my plans also. I am planning on using stainless on the exterior. Any tips on the firebox would be appreciated. I have never been able to look at one of these things.

Draft holes

The plan for the 500 gal reverse flow smoker does not show how the draft holes should be laid out and how large they need to be to get enough air to make it burn properly.
