Re: FireBox Too Low

I still like my suggestion, if you like it, and it cooks good, leave it alone. As far as being top heavy, have you thought about putting expanded metal on the bottom braces to make a shelf and stacking wood on it to offset the being top heavy? Just a thought.

Re: FireBox Too Low

Hey, if you are satisfied with the way it cooks I would leave it alone.

I was referring to getting started with cutting the tank. Thanks for the information.

Re: First RF Build

forty-creek are you saying drain it before you cut into the tank? I have always been under the impression you left it full to make the first cuts. I ask because I need to cut my tank when it warms up.

Re: 1st reverse flow-on a budget

Looks like you have a plan! I am looking forward to seeing your build come together. I have a 66" x 22" propane tank that I plan on cutting to 44" and using the other 22" to make the FB for a RF patio rig. I hope to incorporate some of your design if you don't mind.

Re: Controling amount of smoke in a stick burner

Sometimes finding the right wood for smoking can be a problem. I have found the chart in the link below to be helpful.

Re: Controling amount of smoke in a stick burner

Yeah, building an engine and a smoker are similar price wise. They both can snowball! You think you have everything figured out and the next thing you know you are buying something else, but then when it all comes together you are proud of what you have built.

Those connecting rods in it would certainly spice it up! Sounds like you are getting closer to solving the problem. Keep up the good work.
