FB to CC 1/2 moon calculations.

I have seen this question asked numerous times now. I will share how I figured this out for my smoker. The one thing I have learned is that nerds love to make calculators and put them on the net. You just have to take time to find them. This one figures the partial area of a circle. http://www.handy...

Re: Beer on brisket during smoking

Original weight was 11-1/2lbs. I only did a little trimming. I should have done more reading on cooking brisket. I see most cook until the flat is done then separate the point and cook until it is done. It is still really good.

Re: Beer on brisket during smoking

Okay, so I smoked the brisket on the 4th. Lon day but I really enjoyed it. I guess the whole building it myself satisfaction thing maybe. I think it worked really well. I need to add a gasket to the door but it was very easy to control the temp once I got the rhythm of the thing. Open door to add wo...

Beer on brisket during smoking

Okay so I am a home brewer who decided to build a smoker. I am going to smoke my first brisket. I know more about beer than I know about smoking brisket. So far I am planing a garlic & brown sugar rub. Thinking of using some of my Oatmeal Stout in a spritzer bottle on the brisket during the smoke fo...

Re: 1st RF Build

Well the burn in went really well. You guys all said if you build it by the Pit Calculator it will work. Well it works very well. I still have not put the door latch on. Thought I could start the fire and then put on the latch. within 10 minutes I couldn't touch the door. Door was sprung open by abo...

Re: 1st RF Build

I was able to get the chimney on yesterday. All I have left to do is build the cooking grate, cut down the damper slide and add handle (which will probably just be a 3/8" x 3" stud), add the mounts. (I have a rolling table I am mounting this to) Then it is time to fire then I will wire wheel the who...

Re: 1st RF Build

So basically yesterday was the "Big Day" I have been pecking away at this thing for a few weeks. Took all my parts to a buddy's shop he has a really nice Millermatic mig welder. Way nicer than the 110 Harbor freight special I have. Finished my door latch, assembled the fire box, attached the cook ch...

1st RF Build

Spent some time this weekend working on my smoker. Cut my door out for the fire box. Thought It would be fun to share my hinges. Keep in mind I am building this out of junk I have around. This time I cut the hinge side of the door then welded the hinges on, then finished the door cut out. I must say...

Re: May be more than you asked for.

Enter the smoker. It is smaller compared to what I see some are constructing on here. However this is my first attempt. I have also made every mistake there is so far. Door is cut out no hinges yet. It is a hot water tank so the walls are thin. Got an idea though. I am building a RF smoker. The baff...

Re: May be more than you asked for.

I got tendonitis really bad 9yrs ago so I quit fabricating. So I am left with 2 rather large tables and no need for them.
As I am also a Brewer. I have decided to build a brew sculpture. (The orange end of the table is the brewing end. The other is going to be the smoker end.)

I built a floating base for my shaping grinder. Base has water ports through the bottom causing the aluminum base to float on a thin cushion of water.

May be more than you asked for.

My name in Don, I go by the name Twinpop because I have 2 sets of twin daughters. I would like to share some pictures of how I got here sorta. Building a smoker has been a long time coming. It started with a 14" round el-cheapo briquet grill and drunk chicken. I decided to do Drunk Turkey. Which req...
