Re: double stacks

Remember that two 4" pipes don't equal a single 8" pipe. Volume changes dramatically when diameter is increased or decreased.

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

I've got the unit up for sale locally, hoping to sell it and build another just like it and put alittle cash in pocket.

Wanting/needing a tig welder pretty bad.

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

I just used a enamal paint from the hardware store and a spray gun. I did follow all other recommended steps and used all the same brand of primer/paint. Insulation is just a fire resistant rated at 1500 degrees

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

Thanks for the info guys, I'll keep at it and get a few more cooks under my belt before I start to panic. I took a temp reading of the steel plate last night. The CC was at 275 and the steel plate was reading about 400. I've only done ribs and mac n cheese so far, can't wait till I get to try brisket

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

I need help, been using my new smoker and learning how it works and I have a question. How come my water pan isn't going empty? I seem to be using very little if any water at all. What I have between the cooking chamber and the fire box is as follows. Fire box, charcoal basket is 7 inches tall, abou...

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

Just finished dinner, certainly a different smoke flavor then other cookers I've used but the end product was very very good. It will fun to tinker with rubs alittle more now that i know my heat will always be same.

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

Well I just threw the first racks of ribs in my smoker, and have a fatty going in a little. The only down side seems to that I no longer get to play with the fire the whole time I'm trying to cook.

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

It currently has 6 racks but has slots for 14. Each rack is 20 x 22 so it should hold lots of food. It was still burning after 10 using only 9 pounds of charcoal, I got tired of watching it so I shut her down. It held steady at 250 all day long.

Re: Reverse flow insulated cabinet

Still don't know what color to paint it yet, any ideas? Almost done with a stainless steel shelf that hangs off the handle on the side, and need to make a stainless steel trim ring around the thermometer. My biscuit test went pretty good, seems to be very little temp difference from top to bottom.

Reverse flow insulated cabinet

Well I'm just about finished with my latest smoker build, seasoning and biscuit test today. I've been working on it over the last couple of months. Here is a few of the pictures I took along the way. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Door hinge question

DSCN3825 - Copy.JPG Getting ready to mount the doors on my smoker. Doors are approximately 24" wide X 1 1/2" thick. Fire box door is 15" tall and the cooking chamber door is 33" tall, the door material is all 16 gauge so they are kinda heavy. Should i use piano hinges or the weld on bullet style hi...
