Re: new build

Love it. Looks great. I've been looking into this for my next build...after I finish the vertical cabinet first.

Looks great. What kind of paint did you use?

What type of insulation?

Re: Gravity Feed... Painted

I'm assuming since its so insulated regular paint isn't an issue? Doesn't have to be high temp?

Also, how did you fasten the aluminum edges? Size of the trim?

Re: Baffel plate to cook grate clearance.

My last build was only 2". I made the baffle 1" below center of tank along with the door cutout being 2". Made the bottom grate 1" above centerline. Worked out great for me all around. On my 17.5" tank I needed all the room I could so that I could Ft my 2nd rack. Sent from my Venue 8 Pro 5830 using ...

Re: Gravity Feed... Painted

Bent it how? Just a really small bend on each corner or something? Will be working with a 48" hd brake, so bending shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Gravity Feed... Painted

I've got to know, does anyone know how is the diamond/x shape done on the front sheet metal? Getting ready to start a backwoods type cabinet smoker and would love to finish it off that same way.

How is the aluminum trim fastened to the corners? Rivets? screws?

Re: First Build - 40 Gallon Propane Tank

Looks good. And a huge thanks to you and this forum. Couldn't have done it without it!

Side note, you have any plans for a vertical/cabinet backwoods style?

Can't decide to do another tank build or a cabinet type.

Re: First Build - 40 Gallon Propane Tank

Thanks. I do have a question on the firebox and paint. After then first few cooks, the paint on the firebox only smoked a bit, and it turned from a gloss black to a matte black, or even a very dark grey. Is this normal? I used rustoleum high temp sprayed on. I think it is rated for over 800 degrees....
