Re: I'm sure you've seen this...

my question on this design is, being that its more or less a direct cooker on the bottom, and has 3 stacks, would the 2 vertical ones even get hot enough to really be much use? :headwall: Don't know, I figured if you just use the grill as your fire box and shut off (or down) the direct stack.... it...

Re: dual smokers, one firebox

Here's my rig if I ever get back to work on it. I have a shut off to the main chamber and a slide in divider for the firebox if needed. Both warming chambers can be used to smoke or warm if shut off. I like this setup because I can just smoke on one small warmer if I'm at home and cooking dinner for...

Re: I got the fever, time to do something about it.

I've done a little work to the grill lately so I thought I would mock it up for some pics. The insulated fire box is tacked together but I haven't made the doors yet. I made a damper so I can close off the main cc and smoke in one or both off the warmer boxes for small cooks at home. I think it's co...

Re: Firebox to cook chamber flow?

I just decided to cut the hole in my fire box to the size I needed (about 22 x 7" I think it was) and then make a ramp up into the belly of the tank from the firebox. I'll post some pics when I get it all mounted but it might be a while. At the moment I'm painstakingly drilling a series of 4" holes ...

Re: Firebox to cook chamber flow?

My fire box is all cut out and it is actually going to be insulated. The 36 x 24 x 20 box is inside a 38 x 26 x 22 box. It will have 1" of insulation all around and both boxes are 1/4" . I know exactly what you are saying about moving the box farther under the cook chamber but I can't do that or I w...

Re: Firebox to cook chamber flow?

My fire box is 36" x 24" wide and 20" tall. I built it this size because I'm mounting two 30 gallon air tanks on top of it. These tanks have an 18" footprint and they will mount side by side. I plan to use these as warmer ovens or open a damper and use one or both as a smoker for little jobs at home...

Re: Firebox to cook chamber flow?

That was my quickie cell phone drawing.
I just wasn't sure is splitting the draft like that was a good idea or not but it would be alot easier than modifying the bottom of the tank and the firebox.
I'm not set on this just kicking it around.

Firebox to cook chamber flow?

OK, I know this probably isn't the ideal way to mate the firebox to the cook chamber but I need my box mounted low so that I can mount my warmer tanks on top of the firebox and have the "look" that I want. Since my firebox will be so low I can't make my opening as big as the calculator recommends so...

Re: I got the fever, time to do something about it.

I've thought about coming to the gathering but I'm in the middle of a rotisserie car build and weekends seem to be at a premium lately but myself and a friend of mine are already talking about making it down next year. As far as the placement of my smoker tank, I don't know why but I just have to ha...

Re: I got the fever, time to do something about it.

In Ashland but I work in Columbia.
I'm really wanting to get this trailer to around 4'or 5' wide so that I'm not reaching so far over the fender

I'm thinking this for my design. The grill will pull out from the side.

I got the fever, time to do something about it.

I started this smoking thing a few years back with a Brinkman smoker and a Thanksgiving turkey, now I smoke roughly 20 turkeys come thanksgiving. Lately I've been getting into other critters and I think I'm having fun so it's time to up the capacity on the grillestate. .. did I just make that up? I'...
