About to dive into smoker, one last question.

I'm going to use a round firebox, but for cook space reasons I am going to have a half elipse cc opening. I was originally going to make the firebox like this. 51c252aa-baab-42d9-8109-b04e0bd0925a.jpg However, what would be the negative of leaving the firebox round and just having dead space over th...

Burning down mesquite.

I live in West Texas, so I cook with mainly mesquite. I have a separate fire area where I cook that I burn down the mesquite coals and shovel them into my firebox. I like the flavor that coals give as opposed to throwing in logs of mesquite. Any ideas how I could rig up some kind of "coal maker" for...

Propane Tank Size Question

Hey guys, lurker here that has a question. I came across a "500" gallon tank for cheap (free). The guy that gave it too me said it was an old 500 gallon, but the dimensions are 102 x 41. It is shorter and wider than every 500 gallon dimension I've seen. Is this a plus or minus for building? Is this ...

Squared off door question.

Hey guys, I am new to the forum and absolutely love it. There is so much useful information and ideas on this site. A friend of mine is giving me a 500 gallon propane tank and I am very interested in the plans for the Big Pappas Beast smoker. I have one question though, I have seen a few people modi...
