Re: BBQ Vessel Harry Caray

Thank you sir! I love it. I’ve been cooking almost solely on this for about 2 years, although I did just buy an old stumps and used it for Super Bowl so I could go to church. I’m just at a conference and realized I never posted my build, lol! The grease dam does slightly because I made the BP into a...

BBQ Vessel Harry Caray

Hey guys. Not a new guy but haven’t been very active. Thought I’d post pictures of my build. Bought the plans for the BBQ 911 smoker and altered it a bit to make it similar to the Bubba Grill. Never could have imagined how good this thing would cook. I had to learn how to weld to build it but thanks...

Cook Chamber Burnout

Hey Guys. Got my doors cut in my propane tank and I'm about to start putting everything together. Do I need to burn a fire inside the tank first? I'm going to have it sandblaster to remove paint. Don't want to get too hot and warp my door. Searched the forums and couldn't find anything except UDS wi...

Cook Chamber Damper

Good morning gentlemen. I purchased the BBQ 911 smoker plans and plan on building it with a minor modification-I'm going to build the warming cabinet all the way back to the cook chamber to eliminate the 2" gap between the warming cabinet and the cook chamber and to save buying a 4th sheet of steel!...

Re: RF with vertical smoke box added?

Following. Check out Bubba Grills at www.bubbagrills.net. This is my inspiration for my reverse flow. Rib box is extension of the smoke chamber with the stack on top of the box. Lot of guys winning comps on them. I'll let you know how it works in a couple months.

Re: Beginning the Journey of Building (First Build)

Guys I'm building a fire basket for my old cooker and was looking on here about rebar. I bought some rebar at Lowe's yesterday but want to take it back if possible. It's weld able rebar and costs a lot more...$10 for 6' as opposed to $4 for 8' of the standard stuff. What I've read is that the weld i...

Re: Reverse flow questions...

I'm building a RF with WC out of a 250 gallon propane tank. The warming cabinet is really going to be an extension of my cook chamber with the flue on top of the WC...sort of following the Bubba Grills approach. I know quite a few guys cooking on them and they have nothing but good to say about them...

Position of the tank

Ok guys what is the best way to position the tank (250 gallon propane). I see pictures of people with the rings up so the tank is in it's normal upright position. What do yo do to fill in the holes for the valves? I was thinking about grinding them smooth welding a plate over top then grinding it as...

Thanks guys! I was kind of leaning that way but was just looking for the most economical route. Definitely will not sacrifice quality and efficiency though. Thanks again. Will probably have many more questions come up in the future!

Rib Box Steel gauge

Good afternoon. Newbie here so please forgive me if this has already been asked. I'm building a reverse flow with rib box out of a 250 gallon propane tank. The plan is to cut off one of the bubble ends and fabricate a firebox and rib box that can also be used for extra cook space for butts/shoulders...

Re: 1 or 2 Doors for 250 gallon tank

I've had this same question. I am considering doing a 2 door design like the Bubba Grills. 2 doors but one overlaps the other...the opening is full length. That way I can cook hogs but still open just one side if doing ribs, chicken, meats that take shorter cook times.

Re: Jacks Old South?

I cook on a JOS 72". Great cooker. As with any other design, it's different than other styles and you have to learn its caveat's. Great results from it though. And have no problem getting to temp or holding temp.
