Re: rotisserie in a 100 gl shorty. anyone try it before?

I've considered doing a rotisserie on this smoker, but I think the diameter would be too small.

Re: oddball design smoker

I'm not sure what they were thinking when they put the stacks on the doors or why they off set the firebox so much. Main stats: The chamber 96 gallons: 48" long and 24" diameter. The firebox 31 gallons: 36" long and 16" in diameter. The fire box is a 1/3 the size which will be a bit small to be set ...

Re: Reverse flow cabinet smoker

Finally got around to sketching the design in Solidworks. It's been a while since I've done any modeling, so it's not perfect. But it'll give me a good idea of how I want to build it while expressing my ideas here. I've decided to build it out of sheet metal without a frame. It's going to be similar...

Re: Small Vertical Insulated RF Questions

I could see where this idea would simplify the build. But I don't know how to size the intake/exhaust stacks for the vertical style smokers. In comparison, the Pittmaker used the whole back false wall for an intake, and the Backwoods uses majority of both false sidewalls as an intake(to bring in the...

Re: Small Vertical Insulated RF Questions

I believe the BBQ vault/safe by Pittmaker has a false wall in the back that brings in smoke/heat from the fire box and they add two C channels along the sides to vent up to the top exhaust. Take a quick glance at their models. I think you're talking about dividing the back false wall in to thirds an...

Re: Reverse flow cabinet smoker

That looks good pickupnut. Where did you source the hinges and latch from? I thought I'd draw out the smoker in solidworks. At one time was pretty proficient in Solidworks, but whew, it's been a while. Between the updates on the software and it being about 8 years or so since I've drawn... kinda lik...

Reverse flow cabinet smoker

Been enjoying the hell out of my offset smoker (http://smokerbuilder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3371), but I probably enjoyed making it just as much as cooking on it... No complaints on it's function, just throw a split on it about every 30 minutes and she holds steady. It's turned out some bea...

Man, I wish I had an Academy's close by, I love that place... That'd be a great price, the one at Lowes is ~$50... What material would you guys build a small wood rack out of? I'm going to do a 40"Wx24"Dx20"H I thought about framing it in angle and using expanded metal for the sides. What size angle...

I was looking at fish cooker to add to the trailer, mainly for starting the charcoal chimney. But I wouldn't mind using it for other things... Thanks for the comments... I never really had a smoked ribeye, the center taste just like a normal but prime rib, but the outer crust was something to behold. Now for the add ons... Wood rack, fish cooker, charcoal grill, and a prep table. For the "table" I will have a shelf that will extend out fro...

Thanks for the comments... I thought about etching his name into the Spatuala, still debating on that. Added some cheap latches from Harbor Freight and threw some paint on it. Re: First build - 100 gal tank

Frank, I've watched that video, it's pretty good. I need to get a charcoal chimney,it would really help getting the fire going. Not sure how much it's effecting it, but I'm mainly just burning splits. It takes so much charcoal, it gets expensive, but that may just be the nature of the beast. I learn...

Re: First build - 100 gal tank

The fire box positioning probably is the culprit. I adjusted BP and CC opening sizes to the calculation, but I think I will close up the fire box side a little bit on the next fire to see how it affects it. I did add a 1/4" plate to aid as a heat sink with a small gap in the top corner of the fire b...
