Re: Selling a smoker?

Thanks for the input. Here’s my build thread.
https://smokerbuilder.com/forums/viewto ... =11&t=3370

My buddy that I built it with came up with a really sweet design for a slightly smaller unit. I’d like to switch over to that one. Though this one works pretty nice as well.

Selling a smoker?

Quick question. I am looking to sell my current centerfeed reverse flow smoker to fund a new build. My question is, what’s the best place to put it up for sale? I have it on my local craigslist, any other ideas? I didn’t see a classified section here. Thanks for any input.

Re: 1st build, 64 gallon lp tank RF vertical design ?

I thought you guys might want to see how the other smoker turned out. (my buddies) He finally finished it up, he deviated from the plan, and it turned out really neat. He loves how it works, and it has replaced his Green Egg on the porch. (He might have them both up there, not sure) He put on a cont...

Sugar Maple vs Silver Maple

My Bro. inlaw has a large Maple he is taking down in a week. Not sure if it is sugar or silver. I am thinking it is silver but need to check leaves. I can have as much as I want to haul away. Can I use either for a smoker? I will definatly use it for the fire pit in the evenings, but wasn't sure abo...

Re: 100# patio size build, need guidance

I havnt been on the site in a bit, but you are doing something similar to what I built last summer. Here is my build link, lots of differnt options explored, and I have some final prints kind of shown. Works great. http://smokerbuilder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3370 Here is where I got most of...

Re: Rib Newbie

 Got to find some oak as well. Don't want to use up all my apple wood at once. I'm waiting on a buddy, there is a road construction project nearby that is going to be taking out a portion of an apple orchard, trying to see if we can get some of the trees, might be a bit before that comes about...

Rib Newbie

I am finally ready to do some ribs. My question is how to do so? I have checked some of the threads, but would like some recommendations, or can someone steer me to the right threads to read up on more? My center feed RF is typically fired with all wood (apple so far). Any recommendations on wood, r...

Re: Pork Loin - Recipies, recommendations, etc....

 oh, you r hungry? :). There was nothing left. It a was gone in a matter of 15 min. I also had made a slab of salmon and left that home for my girls, they devoured that as well. So I guess the smoker was a good idea. :)

Fixed the door gasket with the Red Permatex gasket maker, that works great.
Here are some pics of the latest smoke. 2 recipies on a 11lb. pork loin split in half and a slab of salmon. All turned out great.

Re: 1st build, 64 gallon lp tank RF vertical design ?

Since if has been around -5* - 10* the last couple of days, I pulled the door, took it to work, cleaned up the flange, fixed my handle, and brought it home. Its in the basement with 3 sides rtv'd, should have it all back together tomorrow or Friday. Giving out for one last bowhunt tomorrow. :). Stil...

Re: Salmon Smoking Help

It was better after I put it back on for another 15 min. My 6yr old ate most of it. Couldn't keep her away from it. Time to do some more. I need to put the dry brine/brown sugar on it for a longer time. What does the cedar plank do for it? Thanks

Here is the one slab of salmon I did before pulling it apart. Camera didn't take the best picture. It had a redder look than what is shown.

Now to redo the main CC door gasket. TQ has recommended Permatex red high temp RTV gasket maker, going to do that sometime this week.

Re: Pork Loin - Recipies, recommendations, etc....

Forgot to take pics. Will do so in a couple weeks when I do the 10lb er. Going to do it cut in half and 2 recipes. I got carried away with trying to stuff my main door seal back in. The gasket glue didn' t hold. Going to be fun redoing it in 15* weather. Going to pull the door, clean up the gasket s...

Re: Salmon Smoking Help

I did up a slab of salmon yesterday, turned out pretty good. Tried the recipe that is in Billy Bardee (sorry if I misspelled) post. I pulled it out after an hour at 180, didn't seem quit done, so I put it back in while I had my pork loin at 250 for about another 15 min. Perfect. I didn't brine it lo...

Re: Pork Loin - Recipies, recommendations, etc....

I ended up trying 3 different recipes. 2 that a friend had, 1 was a marinade that it was in for about 15hrs. The other was a spicy/sweet glaze, and the one I had was a mustard coating with a homemade rub, which was on for about 5 yes prior to cooking. Turned out real good. Very moist. I let them res...
