Really nice work. The more threads I look at the more it makes me go back over my own current build and redo things to a gig her standard!

Re: My first build

Hi everyone, sorry for the long delay but my mother-in-law fell ill and past away and my son had a dirt bike accident, broke his collar bone, shoulder blade and five ribs. So as you can imagine my time has been needed elsewhere. Well now back in the saddle and picked up some material for the smoke b...

Got a chance to do a bit more today. Marked out and cut the cc door and the cutout for the fb. Next step will be to patch up all the holes left from all the hot water redundant parts then start the fb.

Re: My first build

Thanks for the advice Gizmo. I am working off plans from smoker plans.net which show the fb on the right hand end. How would I modify this to produce a centre fed unit. I am guessing the fire box would be central with a pipe connecting it to the cc and some form of baffle to control heat? Would the ...

My first build

The hot water service died a week before Christmas giving me a "free" cooking chamber to play with so I decided to have a go at a 15" diameter x 50 long elliptical end reverse flow smoker. Got a start today and found a couple of challenges straight up. Firstly the chamber is only 1/8" thick ( May en...

Distance of grate from baffle

Just about to start a build of a reverse flow 15" elliptical end cylinder x 50" long smoker from plans from this site. What it doesn't show is any cooking grate details. I can throw something together but was wondering if there is a minimum distance that needs to be kept between the cooking grate an...
