They make an air cure as well. Had my crawfish burner done, everytime I use it it gets cherry red. Still looks great. It has faded just a tad, but looks like a matte finish. Ahh I didn't think about the ash. I can weld a capped piece of 1/2" tubing on the back side of the nut so the threads r protected. Thanx for pointing that out. Anyone ever do it this way?

I have a question regarding the firebox intakes. The calculator says I need two 3.5" round intakes. My question is if I cut them out and space them two inches apart, can I make one cover that will open and close both? Maybe like two seperate plates connected by round bar?
