Re: Hinges (CC door)

ABBOV your hing design will work great i made my hinges exactly like yours here is how mine turned out. Also this design allows you to install a hidden door stop in the hinge on the CC side notice how i have the back plate on the 2 vertical pieces i notched a V in this and adjusted the notch so the ...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

I did think about putting a piece of plate on the firebox door with an 1/4-1/2 inch air gap but that was allot more work then moving the stoker to the outside. I may still try it but ehhh. For the flames traveling under the baffle i don't really think so. I don't have huge fires in the fire box and ...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

it is 11/4 in threaded pipe. It did it before the stoker i have 1/4 thick plate for my baffle plate. Pete it does it the full length of the smoker. i should point out that when i run the smoker at 250-260 it does not seem to do it anywhere in the smoker. can the draft be to strong causing hotter air...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

Yea i decided i needed a little bigger one.. I have lots more pics.. The stoker was well worth the money it has really helped burn all my fuel. and it reduced the overall amount of fuel use and lengthened the time between adding more fuel. I have no problems with excess smoke as i tend to burn small...

Re: My First Smoker Build (24 x 46 RF Smoker)

I really like the Hog brackets, also are you worried at all with the cleanliness of wooden handle? What about the longevity of life for the wood rotting. I did a bracket on each side on mine and put a 1/2 inch diameter 2 inch long tab on each bracket and put a galvanized 1 1/2 inch pipe for a handle...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

No i didn't yet havent decided if i want the nippple under the CC on the back of the Fire box or on the door. I should be able to drill the hole without messing up the paint to bad. I will have paint left over for touchups. I was thinking it would be best to have it on the FB door because the flow o...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

Here it is cooking i think i got a pretty thin blue smoke the door is cracked and the stack is wide open. I have no air openings in the firebox because i am going to install a stoker system on it. But it runs just fine with the door cracked. IMG_20160411_182308.jpg IMG_20160411_182334.jpg IMG_201604...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

now for the piece de-resistance the test fire. It was a huge success within 45 mins the smoker was up to 255 degrees with only 1/2 a chimney of charcoal and 4 small 8 in long by 4 inch wide 1/4 split logs. Then after about a total of 1.5 hours i added 2 x 14 in long 1/4 split logs. and it climbed to...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

thanks for the kind words I'll get better pics up tomorrow i now have it welded in about to start the fire box. The firebox will be round 30" in dia and 25" long. I am thinking of making the top of the fire box flat to set stuff on and create/match the 1/2 moon shape of the throat opening better. I'...

Hello Everyone, It has been a little while since my last post life has gotten in the way :-)... I thought i would post some recent pic's where I completed and installed the baffle plate. Re: newbie 120 gal RF... lots of questions

Hello Ras, First let me say that i am no expert ok but here is what i have learned any 230V wire welder will work especially welding less than 1/4 inch thick steel. You will want to use .035 Flux core or if your using gas with it use non-Flux. To your original question about door cutting with an ang...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

It surprised me that i had not seen any mention about this method to clean rusty pipe on any other post, maybe folks will see this and think wow that is a novel idea. Not to mention the cost savings look below. 1 Gallon of Muratic Acid was $8 dollars vs. one flapper wheel $14 dollars. The pipe is 30...

Re: 205 gal RF natural gas pipe smoker

so silly question what is a 36 grit for carbon, is that one of those metal diamond wheels i see at Lowes, or is that just a bigger flapper at a rougher grit? The lowest i have seen is 60 grit at Lowes
