Re: Shielding gas or not?

I use C02 on my Hobart 140.
You can find a 20 lb C02 bottle cheap. They are the ones used on the fountain drink machines.
I will never go back to flux core.
Im a novice and only weld a little.

I cook it like brisket, but when it hits 165 I pull it and put it in a beef broth onion cup a soup. Let it rest for a couple hours, then slice thin on a meat slicer. That is our version of r...

El Gato
Painting with Rattle Can.
Dupli Color Engine Enamel from my local Oreilly's.
It's rated at 550 degress and is oil resistant.
I've used it several times with great results.
I seasoned the pit yesterday.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have 4 pits in line b4 I get to this one. I will put more thought into it. Maybe just reducing the amount of framework would be some weight advantage.

Your pit looks awesome!
What are your thoughts on a frameless version?
This is another smoker I'm working on, but a friend of mine wants a stumps clone. I was thinking of building it frameless.

Re: Self Sustaining PID Controller

DunnSmoke, you have any updates on how your PID is working for you on your smoker, holding temps etc. I am trying to get an idea to build one or put one together to use on a mini gravity fed smoker once the plans get out and I build it. Thanks I made one change. I went from a 4AH baatery to a 9AH b...

You did great! So for the hard question, what did it cost to make? If you don't mind my asking. I dont mind at all. A total of $106.17 - No extension chords, priceless. Below is a material list for anyone that is interested. I will have to draw out a schematic with the PID used. If another is used,...

Here is the PID I made for the Twins. I will test it completely next weekend. 12 volt ATV Battery, 1.5 watt 12 volt solar charger, 32 CFM fan and a threaded 8" therm o couple sensor, all with NO extension chords. I ran the fan non stop for 12 hours without the solar charger and still had 12.6 volts ...
