Re: 55 gal rf

I agree t. Looks like I'm gonna go through with it anyway but with a few compromises. I'm thinking on using a 3/16 plate for my rf plate and extend it into the fb as the top of the fb. Might help even out the heat better and should hold on to it better too. I'll update as I go and will take any help...

Re: 55 gal rf

That's pretty much the idea I was going for t. What's the worst thin that could happen with a thin fb and cc? Not hold heat in cold weather? What about making a fb and rf plate out of 3/16 or something in the middle of 1/4 in and drum thickness?its my first build and I want the experience and abilit...

Re: 55 gal drum smoker with a cut down burn barrel

How do you like the results? Would you do anything differently? Does it cook well and maintain heat easily? I'm trying to build something along the same idea and love the simplicity of using barrels. Any pros and cons?

Re: 55 gal rf

I do have two barrels. Is a 55 gal drum too thin for a fb? It would definatly be a lot easier. If I use one for the fb and other parts what should I use for my rf plate?

Re: 55 gal rf

I'd rather do the side fb rf setup. I have some stock and have built a stand and burned up a food grade barrel. This will be my learning build. Next one will be a trailer mount. I have a little 2 level barrel type now and hate shuffling the racks and feeding the fire. I know it's not ideal but I'm l...

55 gal rf

Hi all. I have a 55 gal drum that I want to make into a rf smoker. I know the thin metal doesn't make an ideal cc but it's what I have. Ran my #s through the calc. Anyone done a horizontal one before? Any info appreciated.
