Re: Need all the advice and help I can get

Figured I'd be back sitting down and putting it on paper and the fb intake area is 81 sq in. And the count of intake is 2. I put it it in as 12x3 now is that the siz of the vents or the slide with the holes on the vent . My thinking was that the 12x3 was the size of the area I wanted my vents and c...

I welded mine to the trailer frame on 3 sides...so far so good. I've only warmed it up 5 times so far though.

Re: My build

I had a chance to putz some the last couple nights and fabbed up my firebox latch. I still have some tweaking to make it right, but I'm happy with how it is turning out. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09/03/85ee5f2bb0919eac4e06705e03e412fa.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09/03/4a769dd0938c2...

Re: Starting new build - 48x24 RFS right side firebox

Mine is a fair bit warmer on the firebox side when I'm warming it up, but once it settles in after about 1 1/2 - 2 hours there's only about a 10° difference.

Re: Need all the advice and help I can get

27" is plenty big enough to install a couple racks and cook anything short of a full sized hog. Mine is 30" (but only 180 gallons) and comfortably fit an 85 lb hog and 3 whole chickens.

Re: I need a drill press

I found a Jet 3/4 HP 17" drill press at an auction yesterday and picked it up for $200. It's a 1992 model but was clean and had probably only been used for wood. There were some nit picky things that I fixed but overall I'm thrilled with it. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/30/a5407696c3fba4693a...

Re: Thoughts on Water Pans???

I've only just started cooking in my RF and the one hog I cooked was in no need of humidity...and the ribs weren't too shabby either. I don't think it's necessary and I think that most folks here would agree based on some of the research I did when building mine.

I need a drill press

Anyone have any suggestions? I acquired a floor model from my brother-in-law several years ago. He passed away and one of his boys needed one so I passed it on...now I need to replace it. There are some options on Craigslist but I really don't know what's junk and what's OK. I looked at new...Delta,...

Re: My build

I'm happy with how it turned out - especially considering it was my first attempt. Internal meat temp hit 165 after 5 hours so I coasted for a few hours keeping the cc temp under 200°. Next one I will cook to a higher internal temp because it didn't seem done to me. The pig was a domestic - one of 4...
