UDS Charcoal Start-up

I've been using my UDS and enjoying it. I been using about half chimney to get it started and pouring them in the center of my basket when fully lit. I've only used it several times for short length cooks but going to smoke a boston butt on it for Christmas. What will be the best way to light it up ...

Re: 1st Cook on UDS

Thanks for all comments. I was amazed at how well it held temps during the cook process, hoping to fire it up again over the weekend maybe going to try out some pork loins or a boston butt.

Wiring Help

I'm trying to figure out what is my best way to feed my wireless thermometer wires through my UDS. I don't want to run them through the small bunghole. I'd like to run them through the barrel wall instead of letting the lid rest on top of the wire and taking a chance of damaging them. This is my 1st...

Thats fine no problem. I understand completely. Thanks. If you were to do the frameless cabinet, would you build it the same size?

Re: Insulated cabinet build

Ok, when you say sleeve are you talking about some bent metal capping off the front of the cabinet on both sides and top and bottom. Thanks Others will offer there thoughts as well. But I sleeve all openings and make sure that no moisture can make its way to the insulation. So basically I would seal...

Re: Insulated cabinet build

I'm looking to do a pellet fired cabinet build with 1 1/2" thick Roxul and I was wondering if on the inside of the walls where the insulation is going to be stationed is really important that it be welded on the inside of the opening where the insulation is or just completely welded all around insid...

Re: What kind of insulation?

Hey Tom, I did see some 3 1/2" Roxul at Lowe's on Thursday, but didn't have a chance to talk to the special order salesman because they had already left for the day. Did they order the 1 1/2" or the 3 1/2 "for you?
