Re: new member and build, got a question

ok makes sense. I used the calculator to figure out my dimensions so I guess if im having no issues yet keeping it within temp then im good. im still new to this so I just assumed it would get a lot hotter then 250 . thanks for the info

Re: new member and build, got a question

just curious about the max temp. I just thought that the smoker would reach higher temps easier. it was fairly easy to maintain my cook chamber temp at 230-250. I just thought I was gonna have issues with the temp getting over 300 , that's the only reason I was asking what the max temp would be.

Re: new member and build, got a question

finally got a chance to fire up the smoker today and season it. started it with a bed of charcoal coals in the basket and then added some applewood I have. managed to kind of get the temp under control but I only ran it for about 3 hours. tried to see how hot I can get it and had it climb to 300 but...

Re: new member and build, got a question

thanks. ill try to get some better close ups of it tomorrow. its pretty simple and it has some decent turning radius. a lot of it was fabbed up with common size steel stock. the only part that was a bonus was the golf cart spindles, that saved me a bunch of work but im sure it wouldn't take much to m...

Re: Wheels For Patio Smoker

heres my build. rims are rototiller tires which have a heavier rim then some of the 8'' rim/tires that you see used on hand carts. ive seen those wheels bend at the hub if its a heavier smoker. ill try to post some pics of it done.

Re: quart of paint in ontario?

ive been throwing around the idea of capping the top and sides of the firebox with thin gauge stainless. the fb door is removeable so I can remove it whenever it gets ratty and paint it up. still going to paint it and then decide on if the stainless will work.

Re: quart of paint in ontario?

On their site it's advertised as a 946 litre spray can but Iits actually a quart can (thanks rodcrafter). I was gonna wait until the end of march when i head down t...

Re: new member and build, got a question

I made all the parts except the spindles. They were from a 2005 ezgo golf cart which I had kkicking around. I have a 2 hp Briggs that i debated On using to power the ssmoker around. The axle under the fire box is keyed so if I decide to go that route it's ready. I'd end up rrunning a jack shaft set ...

Re: new member and build, got a question

I use a pipe that's bent upwards with a handle and a pin that locks it in place. when im done moving it I pull the pin and bar and hang it on th smoker. the tierods are just steel rods welded to bolts and I attach them to the knucke with nylock nuts so I can tighten them...

new member and build, got a question

been lurking for awhile and finally decided to get a build going. I used an oil tank and built everything else using 1/4 plate.the design was from ones ive seen here and liked. I decided to build a steering front axle on it aswell to make moving it around easier. used a pair of spindles that were le...
