Re: Mini Gravity Feed.

I agree it’s expensive and that’s why I got them just to cut my Fb and chute. The rest I’ll do the rest myself. The place where I’m getting the metal is a wholesale supplier.

Re: Mini Gravity Feed.

Hi yes it was £760 excl vat for the standard cut and £880 + vat for the added 6inchs in height. That did not include the tubing. I eventually got them to cut the firebox and chute only but I’m going to build the mini with an added 6 inches. The reason is that I’ll be converting all the measurements ...

Great work it’s looking good. Be interesting to see what little mods you’re going with.

I presume that you take out the he screws and weld the holes up after?

No problem at all. I used a similar ceramic roll product and it is working great.
Thanks for the reply. Did you somehow fasten it so that it did not slump/slide down between the inner and exterior plates. I see others have used slabs and they are rigid so they don’t have worry about it.

Gathering materials for Mini GF

Hi all started this thread as I will be starting to build a mini GF in the next few months. I’ve got the plans already and sent the dxf file of for a quote. I’m trying to source materials such as the insulation. What you think would this be ok https://shop.vitcas.com/ceramic-fibre-blanket-1430-3.htm...

Re: What about this mig welder ok

Are you set up to run 220v? Tho it will run off 110 you will find this to be a big restriction in welding capacities. My point is just remember that getting a new outlet installed is an added (but necessary) expense. Some run them off the cloths dryer outlet but a 220v/30amp extension cord is stupi...

What about this mig welder ok

Hi I’m about to start my mini gf. I’ve learnt to stick weld when I built an offset smoker. I want to learn to use a mig welder and came across this Miller MIG Welder Millermatic 211amp 240v. Will this be good enough to use. I’ve never used a mig welder before. It’s 5 years old but hardly used. It’s ...

Re: Cole's Mini + 6" HD

Hi Cole awesome mini. I bought the plans for a mini but like you I want to add 6” in height. You had to increase the height of your stack. But did you increase it at the bottom at the 1/2” plate it at the top end. Also did you increase the size of the FB.

Re: Mini Gravity Feed.

Thanks you for your replies. I will get the mini and also the dxf cutting list with it. Just wondering what the cost is to have it cut. Did you just get the sheet metal cut and cut the rest yourself.

Re: Mini Gravity Feed.

Thanks for posting your build it has helped me to decide that I really want a GF smoker. But I’m stuck on which to build the mini GF or the single cabinet GF. The DP GF is way to big. Do you know what the size difference is between the mini and the single cabinet GF smoker is. I am in the UK so have...

Hi Diggerg I’m also in the UK in Essex. May I ask what your metal cost as I also want to build a mini GF. I have metal suppliers nearby so sourcing it is not a problem.

Re: Fire grate...

Thanks RC and mo4 this what I was wanting to do. Some good ideas I like the removable base and warming the splits next to the fire basket there.

I busy making a pulley counterweight system for my smoker and as soon as I’m finished this is my next project.

Re: My first build

Hi awesome work so far and won't be to much longer and you'll be ready for smoking. I was wondering if I've missed something I see you have welded the BP all the to the ends of your chamber without a gap at the end. How is your smoke and heat going to travel around your grates and out your stack if ...

Re: Door counterweight.

Thanks for the the help. I'm not a metal worker so forgive the questions. How do work out the angle of the uprights holding the tube that you would fill with the rebar. Is there an easy way of doing this.
