pulling up an necrothread for one reason.... misinformation is worse than no information. Galvanized metal is only off gassing when temps reach 900*F or so... so using it in a location where temps get higher than that... Like a firebox, or plate at the exit of the firebox... perhaps you want to avoi...

What would you guys recommend. I have access to either pipe size. The pit calculator recommends 41" of chimney for 8" pipe or 26" for 10" pipe. 26" would still clear WC by 12-14"s. The 8" pipe would make the highest point of the pit to ground be 110"s/9' overall.. So which route would you guys go? ...
