Use a piece of 24” pipe as a template. That’s how I’ve done it. I have a scrap piece if 24” pipe that I cut to 1” wide and use it specifically for this. A 250 will fit good up to a 500 gallon tank.

Another thing you can do is use high temp food grade silicone. Make sure the surface is clean and run a bead either inside the flange it on the chamber where the door seals. Then lay wax paper over the silicone and gently lower the door and the weight of the door will squeeze the silicone out and ma...

When I build a 24” x 24” firebox and I’m using 1/4”
Plate. I just cut the plates at 23.5” x 23.5”. That way when I make each corner a 1/4” fillet weld the overall dimensions of the box will be 24” x 24”.
