I know you already thought of this but that long smokestack will roll thru the door, right? I am famous for not taking overall size onto account.

Haha! That’s something I would do! It’ll fit though. Through the man door and my overhead is 8’.

Re: My smoker build

So I’ve been working away here and there but haven’t really got much to show! I’ve spent some time straightening and reinforcing both the CC door and the Fb door that both warped when I welded them. The warping issue has got me worried about the whole contraption keeping its shape during use. I’m no...

Re: Start of a long journey.

Nice work....great progress. Just a safety note, another post on here just yesterday said he rolled his smoker off a set of jack stands and crashed it to the ground. Luckily, nobody got hurt. Yup,that was me! I’ve found that it was a blessing in disguise though because getting the stand done has su...

Re: My smoker build

Faught with the CC door for a lot of the day. Finally got it shaped correctly to match the profile if the tank and when I wrapped the flat bar over the curve of the tank it pulled the door out of whack again! I ended up using 2 come-a-longs and voila, the thing fits nice again. I should have some mo...

Thanks for the replies. I got a little more done today. I shopped for some material, amd castors. Got everything I needed except the center finder.
Finished welding out the basket, cut the door and started the door seal.

Re: New guy first build

Your tank cleaned up nice! Your lucky your compressor was a horizontal unit, you can use the original feet on the tank for the beginning of your smoker stands.

I picked this up for the FB door today too. Hitting the metal supermarket tomorrow and getting the angle I ran out of, and hopefully a more productive day.

Re: My smoker build

We all have days like that at some point during a build. You'll need more than an inch of clearance between the fire basket and floor of the FB or the ash build up will choke out the fire. Also an ash pan is a great feature, it makes cleaning a breeze. I'm not sure how big your fire basket is going...

Re: My smoker build

So I decided I may add the warming cabinet as it just kinda seems to make sense. But that’ll come last if I want it when the smoker section is complete. Got a little work done on the firebox basket today. Pretty discouraging work day on the smoker today actually. I couldn’t find my center finder, so...

Re: My smoker build

It looks like you're off to a great start and your numbers are right on the money. The intake is almost twice the recommended size which is fine but I would make 2 of them about half of your current size, one on each side of the FB so that you'll have options if the wind starts blowing in the intak...
