Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

20170106_125010_resized.jpg Started to fabricate the frame and mount the smoker. Moving a little slow but really only doing this on my lunch breaks right now. Also partnering with my friend who is an electrical engineer to use a raspberry pi computer to be a custom controller for the smoker with wi...

Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

On a personal note next time I will either get a much better sandblaster or just don't bother trying to save the original chamber.

I remember how much I hate trying to clean this thing out

Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

I would watch it for what not to do I am sure. My metal and welding skills leave much to be desired. I do have one question concerning the controller. The current unit is the digital controller but it doesn't look in great condition. Would it be worthwhile to swap it out for a more advanced controll...

Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

That is interesting. So really it would be better to have a higher stack and maybe use a butterfly valve to control the flow from the smoker. Right now if I want more smoke I do use one of those smoking tubes they seem to do alright but it is hard to control because the current smoker leaks from eve...

Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

Thanks for the advice I will raise the stack outlet above the cabinet.

Yes that was what I was thinking. I have seen that several times and it seems to make sense to try and get the smoke and hot air to move from left to right.

Re: Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

I have my basic model done. Using 1" x 1" HSS frame built around the bottom half of the Traeger. Single panel front door and I made the racks offset from the smoker wall to allow the air to circulate around. Insulated Cabinet Traeger Conversion

Good Day, I am currently the owner of a used Traeger bull smoker and I am looking to sacrifice it and convert it into a small insulated cabinet smoker measuring 20" deep, 24" long and around 36" tall. When doing early concepts I found myself wandering through the various smokers and I did notice the...

Hello from Saskatchewan

Hello all, My name is Sean and I am engineer from Saskatchewan Canada and I have been smoking using a old Traeger Bull Smoker. Besides being in rough shape and my wife hates it I have always planned on salvaging the parts from it to build myself a new cabinet pellet smoker. I found this forum lookin...
