Double pan heat diverter

I have noticed my bottom shelf is hottest, to be expected. However, wondering how many use heat diverter above transfer tube and was it worth it?

Water pan

Any use a water pan? Was there any dramatic results good or bad? Temperature issues? I was thinking of setting a aluminum full pan on the transfer tube and see what happens, just curious.

Great idea. Did this affect the interior skins much?

Re: DP BUILD SPRING 2017

First cook went great. Made me realize how much I missed having a gravity feed. Purred along for 12hrs using 10-12lbs of fuel. Awesome. I think I am going to be building a mini next.

Do you mix your wood in the feed? I put mine in the pan.

Nomex Gasket

I used nomex gasket on my cooker. First time. I ran into my charcoal chute door sticking together. It looks like due to the black tar like/ creosote that forms at the chute door. Has anyone else experienced this? Possible solutions?

Re: Door seals

Anyone had problems with the nomex sticking? I had my charcoal chute you're stuck. I had to rip the gasket. Bonded on both sides.

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

I would say sealed. Don't want the insulation absorb moisture.

It has been a hot summer here. So welding in 100+ degree not a priority for me. Someone please remind me ...

Question...
Ok to use galvanized nipples for air intake and drain? Easier to find than black.
