Already tasted the chicken and it was fantastic. Ribs have another hour or so left. RenderedContent-9F41E088-F79C-4FAF-8F38-A0...

Re: 1st build from compressor tank questions

Finally finished. Thanks for all the help from everybody on here. The advice was extremely helpful. Not sure I could have done it without the advice. I ended up painting with the rustoleum high heat paint so hopefully that holds up. Propane was added just to assist with lighting the coals. I am read...

Re: 1st build from compressor tank questions

So this weekend is raining so paint will be delayed. I did get a quote for powder coating for under $100. Any thoughts on that? The guy said they cure it at 400 degrees and can withstand 600 degrees. Do you think the powdering coating would hold up? Anyone have experience with this on their smoker. ...

Thanks guys. Big T I put the top flange on the inside of the cc. I don't know what adjustment I would have needed to make. Hopefully that gives me enough room.

Re: 1st build from compressor tank questions

So when I go to paint this do I paint the underside of my flanges? I'm going to put a gasket and didn't know if that would affect the gasket from sticking.

Also I read that to season it you spray cooking oil on the inside of the tank. Is that correct?

Do you do it on the outside as well? Thx

Re: 1st build from compressor tank questions

Got all my handle and handle springs done too. The front shelf is removable. Made it out of 1/2 bar. This is pretty much the final product minus the paint. I also need to finish the gas burner. Basically just needs to be welded in place where the pipe is sticking out of the back. Ran out of time. Q ...

I don't know what a shadow plate it is so I would have to say no. Haha. I have a baffle above the center tube coming from the fb.

Re: 1st build from compressor tank questions

So I just realized that I put my drain on the same side that I'm putting my handle (opposite side of the wheels and same side as my legs). Do you think that this is going to matter? I'm not sure how much grease I will need to drain or how often. Just seems like it would be easier to lift the smoker ...
