Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

Guys I need some info please on cleaning the CC . Must it be done after every cook? I'm talking about the racks and drippings on the bottom.
I would hate to open it in a few weeks and it is cover in foul mould and stinks.

What is the best approach here ?

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

My cyberq is reading 76F in a glass of ice water. Is there a way to calibrate it?

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

That's where I had the temp sensor. Just to note I also hung the food probe down the chimney and got the same temp as the cyberq pit probe.Image

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

Guys it's been a while. I was finally able to do a test burn. Can anyone tell me why the temps on my cyberq and temps on the door thermometer are so different. The cyberq temp sensor is clipped to the middle cook tray.

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

I made the cook chamber and Racks from stainless so I could wash it out. I must be ocd lol.
So the stainless shouldn't need oil on it then right ?

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

Will do the oil but obviously only once the seal is stuck?

I've seen seasoning mentioned a lot. What exactly does that entail?

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

Do you guys paint the inside of the charcoal and firebox door?

I'm worried the seal comes loose if the door starts to rust.

I was also thinking painting would be easier. But the top door might need to be fixed I think.

Re: Double pan GF build from South Africa

I would prefer to spray it in my gun but I can't find it in a can.

What about using automotive 2K on the exterior and just using the high heat paint around the firebox door?

How many cans do you think I will need for my DP?
Has anyone else used this? If so how is the finish?

How many coats should I apply?
