Re: Some insulation questions

Any cinderblock pit, a lot of in grounds I've seen, not to mention all the people that use fire bricks for extra mass and heat retention. This would essentially be just a very large, custom fit fire brick. I know in the big box stores thick metal and properly sealed seams are a rarity, that doesn't ...

Some insulation questions

Well, this looks like the best place to ask. I want to add some insulation to both my smokers, but I don't want to be conventional. I've seen rockwool sheets, welding blankets, some crazy people using foam bats, but I have insulating cement. Well, I have 150lbs of AP Green Insulating Cement, basical...

Re: 30 gallon compressor/propane tank offset

1.5 hours into the first cook, I definitely need to and should have already install the gasket material and flanges over the FB door. I need to figure out how to seal the end holes. At least I got a small shelf bent up to hold thermometers. So far, I've hit 300, hung at 225, and now can't get above ...

Breakfast

So maybe noon is a bit late for cooking breakfast, but I just got these put on to the 30 gallon. Of course, now that it's painted I can see all the gaps and leaks, so this is definitely a trial day. Anyway, I mixed up some of my pork rub, slathered them up and dropped them on. Hopefully in 6 or 7 I'...

http://revskitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/20170811_180828-1024x576.jpg Step one of the paint is complete. This was the easy part. 2 coats of rustoleum grill paint, aka 1 can, because I had it leftover from last year when I redid the New Braunfels. There is more coming to this, just to prove...

Re: The Business of BBQ

I'm actually wondering if anyone has any experience in PA? I'm going to be calling the guy who used to do our annual pig roasts to have a good long chat, but in researching online before hand, it seems like a typical Pennsylvania "stuck in the 30s" situation. I know I have to go to the department of...

Re: 30 gallon compressor/propane tank offset

:yth: She's definitely one of a kind. :kewl: I will say that it looks a little tipsy with the wheels being so close together. It surprisingly isn't. Even before you notice only 3 wheels are on the ground when it's moving. Being so top heavy was a concern, but it won't move much from it's parking sp...

I started a thread, as promised. I have a 2 year old, so I can only use my laptop for pictures after she goes to bed or goes to her moms for the weekend.

30 gallon compressor/propane tank offset

As promised in my intro post, I'm going to copy my build from GRM to here. Please bear with me as I learn this forum software with regards to pictures and links. It all started with a text "hey man, got a free smoker for you. some assembly required" http://revskitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/...

Another pennsyltuckian joining the crew

First off, I would like to say I'm surprised it has taken me this long to find the forum, especially with the extremely useful information you have cataloged. Now then, a little about me. I just recently turned 30, and acquired many useful metal working tools. I've been smoking meat on my own since ...
