Re: 1 + 1 = ??? --THE UDS IS DONE--

Ya Tom, I didn't do a full weld on it and planned on using silicone to seal it up. Still need to get some silicone for it. I am also going to get some fireplace gasket and run inside the lip where it sits on the drum. This is the first UDS I have used and I am amazed how well these things maintain h...

Re: 1 + 1 = ???

Hot out or not, I was getting this done done (kinda) today. I had the barrel burned out a week now so the hard part of cleaning it out begins. The burn broke up the red inner liner but it wasn't coming off very easy. Then I remember someone mention going thru the same thing and used Comet cleaner an...

Another Disappointing Meal

The family and I went out to eat last night and I have been craving some BBQ. So we hit up the little joint down the road. I think its a chain so I wasn't expecting Ma & Pa's BBQ. I went ahead and got some pulled pork and like always happens, I thought it sucked. It looked like pulled pork should. I...

Ya that stuff is a pain in the butt. One thing I learned that always helped was making a lot of backups pretty much everytime I think about making changes to stuff. Many times I have had to load up a backup and start over.

Welcome Robert. Franks video is a great source for everything you need. For the longest time I had a hard time understanding the UDS's. But its one of the easiest smokers to build and probably one of the easiest to smoke with.

oh ya, you need to figure out the size of fire box you need, the opening size and make sure your smoke stack it the correct size. Frank will help ya out with that.

Re: Baffle plate question

You will want the same size opening at the end of your baffle (reverse flow) plate as you have for an opening from your fire box to your smoker. For example, if you have a 100 square inch opening in your firebox, then make the gap at the end of the RF plate be 100 square inches.

Re: While The Smoke Is Rollin

Thanks guys. Its a fun hobby. I started hunting traditional a couple years ago and last winter I wanted to buy a new bow. Quickly realized how expensive these are so kinda building our own smokers, I went the route of building my own.

While The Smoke Is Rollin

Besides Smokin and building smokers, one thing I like to spend my time on is building longbows. Usually spend a lot of time on this while I have something smokin on the weekends. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/MSCustomCalls/IMAG0136.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/MSCustomCall...

Weekend Fun on the Range

Had to go out and try out a new barrel for my contender so I grabbed a few more guns and the kids and off we went. I have been moving the kids (daughter 9, son 6) up the ranks from the Red Ryder and the airsoft stuff to some real guns. After letting them shoot a 22 for a while, I grabbed the .357 an...

holy cow, thats a lot more than I was thinking. I found a place that has a bunch of barrels but its a couple hours away. I was thinking of making the trip worth while and picking up a bunch of barrels. That may be worth it.
