Re: RE: Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

The only thing that jumps out at me is the twin stacks at grate level. If they are mounted that low and are only 25.5'' long, will they be taller than the top of the CC ? If they aren't above the CC they may not draft properly but I can't say that for sure. I've seen angled plates at the throat, yo...

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

OK, so my welder is back and ready to go. I'm trying to refine my numbers in the calculator. I've attached the new numbers. Not much in there has changed, but would you guys look them over and see that everything looks OK. The other part that I'm still unclear on is the throat opening. With what the...

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

Getting a bit twitchy. My welder is out of town for 10 days so no progress. Guess it's a good time to check and double check my numbers.

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

OK, I have a few more questions to clarify the throat opening. I've attached a clip of what the feldon's calc recommends. I tweaked the FB dimensions a bit to 42x42x31 for a little more ground clearance on the trailer. If I have a a two inch grease dam at the bottom, How much wider should the throat...

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

One more question. I see the intake size for the FB, but what about the size of the opening from the FB into the CC?

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

Thanks for all the advice. Gonna tweak the dimensions of the FB a bit and probably turn it into some grilling space also. I'm going with two four inch stacks in an effort to even out the flow of heat and smoke. Will post pics of the progress.

Re: RE: Trailer Smoker remodel

I don’t want to make you do more work but cabinet style doors would make effortless access and I think it would look [emoji102] great too. Oh and about the big FB it’s about heating a particular cubic feet of air. It doesn’t require a huge fire when the size is right. Making memories! Dammit! I lov...

Oh it was awful, but I got the whole thing for less than the trailer would have cost.

Re: RE: Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

Twin stacks work fine as long as the two stacks together add up to the volume of the recommended size. Most of the guys that build twin stacks put a baffle on them so they can adjust the draft if the need to. I agree that the FB is a monster but that is a huge CC that you have, you can tweak the di...

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

Yeah, so that all adds up. Just seems like a huge firebox. Also, because the pit is so wide I was considering going with two stacks to keep from funneling all the heat to one point at the stack end. What's your thoughts on that idea?

My bad. Length is 74". Circumference is 157. Eyes crossed while reading I guess.

Re: Trailer Smoker remodel

Demo is done and she's almost sealed up. Doors and racks should be done by early next week. Then stacks, counter weights and firebox. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170928/8cc981bbfbe7b19a573ada81d5881665.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170928/751f10a24b0740e4eb571cab06de8d4d.jpg https://...

I am because I'm in the middle of a rebuild myself and am putting on a new fire box. Trying to decide whether to insulate or not.

Trailer Smoker remodel

I just dropped this off at my welder to get remodeled. Whoever built it in the first place had no clue. I'm sealing it all up and essentially starting over. Cutting new doors with counter weights, installing two levels of pull out racks, new fire box, and chimney. First question is what are people's...
