Re: To build or not to build?

I think I am convinced I'm gonna just do it right and built now. Question while I'm thinking about it. When doing the A frame part. Does it have to be mounted underneath the deck? Would really like it to be same height as the deck. Considered running another tube from the hitch straight back as well...

Shh don't tell TQ I've been stalking him. I stole this from one of his posts earlier. I was thinking something along these lines, only with a Mack on back lol!Image

Re: To build or not to build?

Yeah I looked closer at that link I shared and shipping was $190!! I have used etrailers before to order my trailer brake controller, they were good to work with. Surprised I forgot about them lol! Trying to figure out how big I wanna make it now so I know what to order. It's actually quite a bit sm...

Re: TQ's trailer build

That's awesome! We have a big smoker we use for our mens ministry at church. There's nothing better than doing charity work, especially when you get to run the smoker doing it!

Anyone have experience with these guys? Pricing sound ok? I would really like to source stuff local, but have yet to find a supplier.

Re: TQ's trailer build

I know it not cool to dig up old threads but I couldn't resist on this one. Was stalking TQ(not in a creepy kind of way) and getting trailer build ideas. I got to the part about giving the smoker away and it going to help ministry and got choked up a bit. Thank you for sharing all your builds!! Sent...

Re: To build or not to build?

I would love to build instead. It was just a cost thing. If it was gonna be around the same I figured prebuilt would be easier/quicker. Probably not better though. I'll do some pricing today and see about where I will be to do it myself. Would the axles from like the farm stores be ok? I don't know ...

Re: To build or not to build?

Yep. It was just to get my lawn mower to my mother in law's house to mow a few times. Now that I have a bigger mower the trailer isn't even usable lol! I have hauled a truck cab about 4hrs across Missouri on it once though. Talk about sketchy!!!

Re: To build or not to build?

I have a small one with the little tires, and I will never own another. Not worth the effort. My car trailer has 16" tires and 6 lug. Would be nice to get something setup the same just to make it easy for tire buying and whatnot.

To build or not to build?

Hey guys. So I'm in the planning stages for my Mack, some of you already have been helping with my dumb questions lol! So today's thoughts. I want to have the trailer go right off to be able to clear space in my overcrowded shop if I need to work on a car/tractor whatever. That said I can utility tr...

One more thing. Is there any other Mack builds out there posted yet other than Frank and bstory? I've read them both a 1000 times but more views is always welcome.

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

Just realized. I have a pretty nice older makita grinder I inherited this hear when my grandpa passed. Also have a 7" massive heavy miserable grinder I got when my wife's Grandpa passed too. Probably still gonna end up with a new DeWalt. They have such great reviews! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapa...

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

Well I've actually been having really good luck with harbor freight 20 dollar specials, but I doubt they will last through this project. I'll probably hit up the pawn shops and get a couple nicer ones. I have a Milwaukee 18v grinder too and absolutely love it, but this isn't the place for it. Defini...

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

Well I think the 2nds are technically new but over 100 bucks a sheet cheaper than new so that's a plus. I think I have a trailer lined out for free actually. Will need some modifications but nothing structural. As far as cutting my cousin works at a metal fabrication shop and said he could get me a ...

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

I'm going to order them tonight, if my computer ever decides to cooperate. Talked to a local metal supplier and 2nds are running about 150-160 for a 5x8 sheet. Obviously being drops they will change , or have odd ball shapes, but I thought it sounded pretty reasonable honestly. Sent from my SM-N950U...

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

I will most likely be having it cut. I talked to Frank at one point earlier this year about having everything needed on a pallet cut and ready to rock and it was a great price. Not sure how bad the market has changed since then. I need to order the plans so I can get a better idea, just trying to no...

Re: Guess it's time I did this.

Ok new question. I've made my decision. It's gonna be a Mack. Also have a pretty hefty check in my pocket. So what's a rough ballpark estimate to build Mack and trailer? I think I'm gonna be a bit short but can definitely get a good start anyways. Thanks guys! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Those circular saws are awesome! The HVAC guys had one on a job I was on. It cut like butter through that tin, but God did it make one hell of a racket!

Re: Temp range.

I guess I should clarify my situation some. Got a pretty well stocked shop. But mostly for auto work. Car lift, big ass air compressor, torch set, Miller 215 multiprocess, etc. I know my compressor is big enough, need to work on a better dryer system though. I will have one some day that for sure.
