Re: First Time RF Build

Thanks, guys! One thing, of the many things, that I'm learning, throughout this build is the thought process my brother and I have put into this build when we are not even working on it. Let's take for example the CC door we just recently re-hinged. We both knew the existing hinge had to go, it was ...

Re: First Time RF Build

Onto the firebox construction. As suggested in an earlier post, the firebox was too big. It was suggested that an 18.5" plate be installed at the top and bottom of the firebox to help reduce the internal dimensions. Well, we did that for the top as you can see in the first picture. That's looking fr...

Re: First Time RF Build

Here's the revamped hinge assembly. The all-thread was used to align the hinges and will be replaced. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180319/59ee83833d59f68fffead44540fe0a25.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180319/af3b19494d64e806af913b7c6c9af846.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2018031...

Re: First Time RF Build

Thanks for the feedback guys. I do plan to leave that area open, you'll understand as I roll out more pictures. It will likely raise some questions. I'm building this with my brother and we are asking questions along the way to one another and the typical response goes something like this "I don't k...

In short, no. It may open some discussion though. Why, should I? If so, why?

Chimney Wall Thickness

Does chimney wall thickness have an effect on exhaust flow? Initially, I wanted to use 6" x 20" x 3/16" wall pipe, I have access to a 5" thin walled chrome exhaust stack, which I'm guessing to be 14 -16 gauge in thickness. I do understand the chimney will need to be longer if I go this route. I know...

Re: First Time RF Build

Any other suggestions regarding this build as it pertains to the trailer empty space, I'm all ears. I plan to attend a few local BBQ competitions in the area and want to be equipped as well as possible, without getting too crazy. I feel this might be unavoidable but limited to the rated 1700 lbs cap...

First Time RF Build

I'm carrying this over from my intro post, so here it is... again, in a more appropriate location. Here's what I've got, it's basically a shell of a potentially good smoker. It has the firebox and cooking chamber with doors in place. It uses a 24" diameter .375" wall round pipe that measures 48 inch...

Fresh Meat...

Hello, Guys and Gals! I'm new here and but not all that new to BBQ smoking. What I am new to is an unfinished project that I recently purchased. I've been smoking meats and whatever else you can think of, going on three years now, and still learning. I live in Oklahoma with my wife and 2 boys. You c...
