Re: Stumps mini clone from existing box 24% over

I'm not personally a fan of heavily smoked flavour so if leave my chute as it's. But each to their own and I can't see why it wouldn't work. Maybe @FrankCox could help?

Re: Stumps mini clone from existing box 24% over

Why use wood in the chute? Most just put chunks in the Ashlan to smoulder as the ashdrops down in a gf

Re: What rod size can i use for 4mm metal

I run 2.5 6013 at about 50-55. I'm doing 2mm plate and get the odd burn through. 7018 are high tensile rods. Not used them personally but you should be able to run a2.5 at about 60 easily.
I run 3.2 at about 90-95

You could also just tape off a few inches (cm?) from the firebox and just use high temp paint in that area. I’d probably do that even if you’re going to cover it in aluminum.
Sounds like a good idea. I plan on putting an aluminium surround on.

We use Sherwin Williams L425 2k epoxy primer at work but I can't find anything about temp resistance

Re: High build primers

Dirtytires - if youre fine with traditional black, there’s probably cheaper ways to go. If you’d want to use that epoxy primer, any automotive basecoat/clearcoat would works. Diggerg - that’s a nice looking color. I’d go with the black primer (it’s more of a dark gray anyways). I'm in the UK and ca...

I personally wouldn't waste argon on MIG. Maybe a co2 argon mix but I keep the pure argon for Tig stuff

Re: Stump's Clone

Had a few hours to work on the racks so welded them up and slid them into place. I may put in three more rack sliders to give me a total of seven so I can do a boat load of chicken quarters and ribs. I received my CyberQ so I will be working on the air inlets tomorrow and hopefully get it all the e...

Re: High build primers

I’d recommend using PPG CRE-921 (Black) or CRE-321 (Gray). These epoxy primers are specified to go over blasted metal and adhere excellent. They’re thick and can easily be surfaced for basecoat. They can also handle up to 300deg if you’re using it on an insulated smoker. Thanks. Yes it's an insulat...

High build primers

So once I've built my GF I plan on blasting it at work in our blast room. I'll be usng recycled iron silicate so it'll be clean but with a little surface profile. Has anyone used a high build automotive primer before basecoatng.

Re: Gravity Feed #5

You only washed it and didn’t media blast it? My powder coat shop always blasts everything first. Once I learned this I no longer take the time to wipe things down or clean up my pieces when I take them in. Figure I save a bunch of time so it’s a win-win for me. I'm lucky in that I can blast it at ...

Re: Mini Gravity Feed.

Hi yes it was £760 excl vat for the standard cut and £880 + vat for the added 6inchs in height. That did not include the tubing. I eventually got them to cut the firebox and chute only but I’m going to build the mini with an added 6 inches. The reason is that I’ll be converting all the measurements...
