Re: Gasto trays

I guess you call them hotel pans in the US. I've know the dp is made for them but has anyone made their own design.

The drip tray just funnels to the drain valve. It is not attached to the valve.
Does the drip tray have a sleeve that goes into the valve spigot or does the grass just seep under the drip tray?

Re: Another Mini Gravity Feed

How do you remove the drip tray if it has a ball valve attached? Do you unscrew the valve and lift up inside?

Wickes do 50mm rockwool slabs and it's half the price of your roll insulation.

Fire box volume

Is the fire box volume worked out as the space above the grate in 1/2"plate or the area above and below the grate?

CC size is roughly 55 times bigger than firebox volume. In both the double pan and the mini.
Would it more or less efficient if it was 21x rather than 55x?

Personally....... I'd save the gas. Make the grate out of angle iron and rebar, you'll be done in a fraction of the time it'll take to burn out the spacing.
I don't pay for the gas work do \:D/ but have plenty of 16mm round bar.
I've got prices for my frame steel and I'm pleasantly surprised.

Re: UK mini

Oh, WAIT!!!!!! Make a removable grate, don't make the bottom of the firebox the grate. A removable grate has a few advantages. You can dump the column into the ash box if you have a run away. You can shake the grate to knock the ash loose. You can pull the grate out if you want to unload the charco...

On a side note I have some large plates of 20mm mild steel at work going free, would it be overkill to use this as my firebox material. Shouldn't burn through.

Re: Rib sauce

I'm looking for a molasses based bbq sauce recipe. I have a ketchup based sauce that I have used for many decades and it's a favorite of many. One of the hole in the wall bbq joints I hit every month or so has a molasses based sauce that is killer. It is served hot and poured over the meat and not ...

UK mini

Are there any builders from the UK that have made the mini GF? Roughly what was the steel cost? I can weld and have access to a workshop full of the necessary equipment.
Also what did you use for insulation and where from?
Thanks Paul
